Aeromexico Visa Signature Card
Calculate how many Aeromexico Miles you can earn and the cash value of the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card based on spend, benefits, and fees. Compare the results side by side against any card.
If you're looking to earn some Aeromexico miles on everyday purchases, the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card is down your alley. Aeromexico Miles have great value and their best value luckily comes from award travel directly through them so there's no real need to transfer miles to get the best value!
The Aeromexico Visa Signature credit card features three bonus categories which consist of Aeromexico airfare, gas stations, and groceries. All of these categories produce bonus Aeromexico Miles even though the Aeromexico program is in kilometers which are called Premier Points. You can multiply your total Aeromexico Miles by 1.6 to convert them to Premier Points. Below is the in-depth detail of each category.
2x Aeromexico Tickets
All airfare purchases with Aeromexico using the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card will earn 2 miles. This is about the standard for most co-branded airline credit cards, but it is not a good standard. Aeromexico Miles can be better earned on other cards that transfer over to the Club Premier program. For instance, Membership Reward Points transfer to Premier Points (kilometers) at a rate of 1000:1600 (or 1000:1000 for Miles). The AMEX Platinum Card earns 5x on airfare which is equal to earning 5x Aeromexico Miles per $1 spent or you could use the AMEX Gold Card which earns 3x on airfare. This is way better than what this card offers. This allows you build up your Aeromexico Miles more efficiently since AMEX has 10 point earning credit cards to choose from.
2x Gas Stations
Gas station purchases will also earn 2 Aeromexico miles when the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card is used. This is not the best return when it comes to gas station purchases, but it's the highest amount of Aeromexico Miles you can earn short of selecting gas to be the 3x bonus category for the AMEX Business Rewards Gold Card.
Of the list of bonus categories, this is probably the worst when it comes to earning miles. The Aeromexico Visa Signature Card earns 2 miles on all grocery purchases. This can be easily beat by the AMEX Everyday Preferred Card which can earn up to 4.5x points per $1 spent which is more than double the rate of the Aeromexico Card. You would also come out ahead using any decent cash back card that focuses on grocery such as the Blue Cash Everyday which earns 3% back on grocery and the Capital One Savor Card which also earns 3% cash back.
Any purchases that does not fall within the categories above will only earn one Aeromexico Mile per $1 spent when you use the Aeromexico Visa Signature. That is an awful rate of return that can be better earned with a cash back card or a Membership Reward Point earning card such as the Blue Business Plus Card.
Perks and Benefits
While the earning rates could be better, the Aeromexico Visa Signature card does deliver on the perks and benefits. Depending on which perk you use, it could be worth it to just hold on to the Aeromexico Visa Signature for just the perks listed below. You would have to make sure it's worth the annual fee though!
Buy 3, Get 1 Free
When buying three full fare tickets with the Aeromexico Visa Signature card, the fourth will be free (surcharges, taxes, and fees still apply). Tickets must be purchased at the same time and must depart from the United States.
This is another great perk of the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card that is worth your attention if you fly with them. This perk alone can make up for the annual fee and more depending on how frequently you use it. Works great for family travel too!
Aeromexico Visa Signature card holders will receive a complimentary checked bag when flying on Aeromexico metal. This is a common perk that is seen across most co-branded airline credit cards including cards from Delta, American, United, and Alaska Airlines.
Aeromexico Visa Signature card holders will also receive a single upgrade annually on the anniversary of the card which is only redeemable on Aeromexico and Aeromexico connect flights. Most frequent flyer programs require you to obtain status with the program before being able to upgrade so this is a great perk of the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card.
Renewal Bonus & Companion Certificate
Renewal of the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card will earn you 4,000 miles and a $99 companion certificate annually. The companion certificate is only redeemable on flights from the United States to Mexico on Aeromexico or Aeromexico connect. It is issued a few weeks after paying the annual fee and could be well worth paying the annual fee as far as its value.
Earning renewal bonuses is not a new thing when it comes to U.S. Bank credit cards. Just like the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card, they offer several cards that feature renewal bonuses such as the LATAM Visa Signature, Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature, and Korean Air Skypass Visa Signature Card.
No Personal Spending Limit (NPSL)
The Aeromexico Visa Signature is a charge card. This means that there is no visible spending limit associated with the card. The limit will rely on account history, credit record, income verification and liquid assets.
Sign Up Bonus
The standard Aeromexico Visa Signature credit card sign up bonus is 15,000 miles which is roughly worth $150 but can be as much as $600+ depending on award travel. Once approved, this card also comes with a complimentary Companion Certificate which is mailed out with the card. Do note that this certificate is separate from the annual certificate and that it is only redeemable on flights from the United States to Mexico on Aeromexico or Aeromexico connect.
Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The annual fee for the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card is $80. Between the Buy 3 Get 1 Free, complimentary baggage, and free annual upgrade, this should easily be worth the annual fee.
Authorized User Fee
There is no authorized user fee for the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card. If you're looking to earn additional miles, I'd recommend adding more users to build miles!
Foreign Transaction Fee
The foreign transaction fee for the Aeromexico Visa Signature Card is 3%. I would not use this card for foreign purchases. There are better cards to use for international purchases such as the Barclay Uber Card.
