The Altitude Reserve Card is a premium luxury card offered by U.S. Bank. This card is exclusive to U.S. bank customers so you will not be able to grab up the Altitude Card unless you bank with them. It offers a great deal of travel parks that are similar to other luxury cards such as the AMEX Platinum Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve Card including GoGo Wifi passes, annual travel credits, and other elite benefits.

Altitude Point Value

Altitude Points can be redeemed for travel, statement credits, or gift cards. Redeeming Altitude Points for travel will make them worth 1.5 cents each while redemptions for statement credits will give the points a value of 1 cent each.

Bonus Categories

The U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card features two bonus categories that will earn additional Altitude Points.

3x Travel Purchases

The U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card earns 3 Altitude Points per dollar on all travel purchases. U.S. Bank defines travel as merchants who classify their business as such. This includes transactions such as purchases made directly with airlines, hotels, car rentals, taxicabs, limousines, passenger trains and cruise line companies.

Since Altitude Points are valued at about 1.5 cents each when redeemed for travel, this is a great return that gives the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card a run for it's money.

3x Mobile Wallet Spending

Using your cellular device's mobile wallet capabilities with the Altitude Reserve Card will also earn 3 Altitude Points per $1 spent. These purchases are defined as the method of paying for a transaction by use of a mobile device (in-store, in-app or online) and includes ApplePay®, Samsung Pay, Android Pay™, and Microsoft Wallet. If the transaction is an eligible mobile wallet transaction and an eligible travel category transaction, additional Points are awarded for one of the transaction types (Points will be applied as mobile wallet, not travel).

This is a very unique bonus category for the Altitude Reserve Card and could be very valuable when it comes to earning Altitude Points. There are a great deal of merchants that now accept mobile pay, and since there is no capped amount, the power of this category is based on what you use it for. For example, most big U.S. companies accept mobile pay. This means you can earn 3x Altitude Points at supermarkets, electronic stores, and more to really rake in the points!

Non-Category Purchases

All other purchases on the Altitude Reserve Card will earn 1 Altitude Point per $1 spent. Since these points have a value of 1.5 cents, this is a decent return. If you're looking to build up points, using this card for miscellaneous purchases is not a bad idea.

Perks and Benefits

$325 Annual Travel Credit

The US Bank Altitude Reserve card comes with a $325 Annual Travel Credit. This credit is triggered by airlines, hotels, car rental companies, taxis, limousines, passenger trains and cruise lines. The credit is once per card member year per account regardless of which cards are used to trigger the credit.

This credit makes up for the majority of the Altitude Reserve's annual fee giving it a true annual fee of only $75. This is a great deal considering the value of Altitude Points. Other cards that offer annual credits are the AMEX Platinum Card ($400 in credits), Chase Sapphire Reserve ($300 in credits), and Hilton Aspire Card ($500 in credits).

Complimentary Gogo In-flight WiFi Passes

The Altitude Reserve Card also includes 12 Complimentary Gogo Inflight Wifi Passes that are valid for 12 months from the date the card is registered for Gogo. The AMEX Platinum Card and AMEX Business Platinum Card also offers complimentary Gogo passes.

Priority Pass

Altitude Reserve Card holders will receive Priority Pass Select membership for 12 months. There will be a lounge visit fee of $27 per person after the free passes are used up. Plenty of luxury cards offer this perk such as the Citi Prestige Card, Marriott Brilliant Card, and Hilton Aspire Card.

$100 TSA PreCheck/Global Entry Credit

The Altitude Reserve Card comes with up to $100 TSA PreCheck or Global Entry Application Fee Statement Credit. This credit is offered once per every 4 years. This is another common perk that are seen on luxury cards.

15% Off GroundLink

Altitude Reserve Card holders receive 15% Off the base rate for GroundLink Black Car Services booked and paid with the Altitude Reserve Card. Card members also get a one-time $30 promotional credit that can be applied towards a GroundLink reservation that is booked and paid with that card.

Silvercar Audi A4 Benefit

The Altitude Reserve Card offers Silvercar Benefits when an Audi A4 is rented.

Visa Infinite Benefits

Since the Altitude Reserve is a Visa Infinite Card, it allows access to Relais & Châteaux Boutique Luxury Hotels. When the card is used to book hotel stays at least 72 hours in advance, the cardholder is eligible for the VIP welcome and complimentary breakfast.

Sign Up Bonus

The standard US Bank Altitude Reserve card sign up bonus is 50,000 bonus points. This has an easy value of $750 since points are worth 1.5 cents when used towards travel. The sign up bonus alone is easily worth picking up the card if you're a U.S. Bank Customer.

Credit Card Fees

Fees
Annual Fee
Authorized User Fee
Foreign Transaction Fee

Annual Fee

The Altitude Reserve annual fee is $400. Most luxury cards hover around a fee of $450 so you'll save a few dollars with this cars. Since this card comes with an annual travel credit of $325, you're really looking at an annual fee of only $75. If you do any decent spending in any of the Altitude Reserve's bonus categories, this card is easily worth that fee.

Authorized User Fee

The Authorized User Fee for the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card is $75 annually per additional card issued. While adding users will take away from the overall value of the card, it can also assist with building Altitude Points faster if they also use mobile spending or frequently travel. If the additional card holder spends at least $200 per month ($2,400 per year) in either of the bonus categories, I'd recommend adding them to gain the extra points.

Foreign Transaction Fee

The Altitude Reserve does not have a foreign transaction fee. This means your Altitude Points will always be worth great value even when using the card overseas.
