Amazon Business AMEX Card
Calculate how much cash back you can earn and the cash value of the Amazon Business AMEX based on monthly/yearly spend, card benefits, and fees.
The Amazon Business AMEX Card is a solid choice for any business that does a great deal of spending with Amazon, but doesn't want or have Amazon Prime. It offers a high return on both Amazon and Amazon Business Services along with cash back on gas, restaurants, and wireless phone services. It even offers cash back at Whole Foods making it a great choice for anyone that shops at the chain.
The Amazon Business AMEX Card features 5 bonus categories which consist of earning cash back on Amazon, Whole Foods Stores, gas stations, restaurants, and wireless telephone providers. There is no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn in these categories and no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn with the card in general.
The Amazon Business AMEX Card earns 3% cash back on Amazon purchases per $1 spent. Amazon purchases include purchases made online at Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Amazon Business. This is the best return you can get on these categories without being an Amazon Prime member and holding the prime version of this card. The Chase Amazon Card also earns 3% cash back at Amazon, but does not earn any bonus cash back on AWS or Amazon Business purchases.
3% Whole Foods Stores
The Amazon Business AMEX Card earns 3% cash back per $1 spent at Whole Foods Stores. Since Whole Foods Stores falls under the as grocery/supermarket category, this is a decent return. The Amazon Business Prime and Chase Amazon Prime cards both earn a higher return of 5% cash back. If you spend around $500 per month on grocery, the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred earns 6% cash back on up to the first $6,000 in grocery purchases per year. If you value Membership Rewards Points, the AMEX Gold Card, and AMEX Everyday Preferred are also very good for grocery.
2% U.S. Restaurants
The Amazon Business AMEX Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent at restaurants. When it comes to business cards, this is the norm. The AMEX Business Gold and Chase Ink Business Cash are two of the better options.
The AMEX Business Gold Card earns 4 Membership Rewards Points per $1 spend on two categories with the highest spend between airfare, advertisement, gas stations, shipping, restaurant, and computer hardware/software/icloud computing. Membership Rewards Points are valued at 1 cent but can be worth as much as 2 cents each.
The Ink Business Cash earns 2% cash back at restaurants as well, but if you own an Ultimate Rewards Points earning card such as the Chase Ink Business Preferred, you can earn 2 Ultimate Rewards Points per $1 spent instead of cash back. Since Ultimate Rewards Points have a value of 1.25+ cents at minimum, you're looking at a return of 2.5% or higher when redeemed for travel or transferred to partners.
2% U.S. Gas Stations
The Amazon Business AMEX Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent at gas stations. For the same reasons as the restaurant category, the AMEX Business Gold and Chase Ink Business Cash would be the better options if you're looking for to maximize the earnings on this category.
2% U.S. Wireless Telephone Services
The Amazon Business AMEX Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent on wireless telephone services. This is an okay return, but a better return can be obtained with the Chase Ink Business Cash which earns 5% cash back or 5 Ultimate Rewards Points if you have a Ultimate Rewards Point earning card. The AMEX SimplyCash Card is another solid option since it earns big for wireless telephone services as well.
All purchases outside of the categories listed above will earn 1% cash back per $1 spent. This is of course a very low return. I recommend running non-category spend through a 1.5% or 2% cash back business card. The Capital One Spark Cash earns 2% cash back and the Capital One Spark Miles Business Visa earn 2 Spark Miles per $1 spent. Both cards have an annual fee, but if you spend enough on non-category purchases during the year, you will earn more cash back than a 1.5% cash back card such as the Chase Ink Business Unlimited.
Perks and Benefits
The Amazon Business AMEX Card offers a few benefits for cardholders consisting of extended payment terms, shop with points, and Amazon Business Enhanced data views. The card also comes with basic American Express business tools as well. The perks and benefits of both this card and the Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card are the same with the exception of the length of payment terms.
Amazon Shop With Points
Amazon Business AMEX Cardholders will be able to use the Amazon Points they've earned directly on the Amazon website to pay for purchases. 1 Amazon point is equal to $0.01 cent so you will still get the same value shopping directly as you would redeeming the cash back through other means.

Amazon Business AMEX Cardholders will be able to opt for a 60 Day Payment Term instead of 3% cash back when making purchases with Amazon properties. Amazon properties consist of Amazon.com, Amazon.com/Business, U.S. Whole Foods Market locations, including Whole Foods Market 365 stores and www.wholefoodsmarket.com, U.S. Amazon Go locations, U.S. Amazon Books locations, and the business or businesses operating as Amazon Web Services in the United States. Payment will be due 60 days from the date of purchase. Amazon Business Prime AMEX Cardholders receive 90 day terms.
Sign Up Bonus
The sign up bonus for the Amazon Business AMEX Card is a $100 Amazon Gift Card upon approval for the card. This is a straight forward bonus that has $100 in value. Amazon Business Prime AMEX Cardholders receive a slightly higher Amazon gift card of $125.

Foreign Transaction Fee
The foreign transaction fee for the Amazon Business AMEX Card is 0%.
