The SavorOne Card is part of Capital One's new family of cards and is the no fee version of the Savor Card. The SavorOne card earns slightly less than it's sibling at the benefit of having no fee. The original Savor card originally had no annual fee, but in August 2018 it was upgraded to a higher earning rate and an annual fee was attached to the card. Everyone who originally had the Savor card was grandfathered to the new earning rate with no annual fee. The SavorOne card was released that same day as a new card with the same earning rates that the Savor originally had.

Bonus Categories

The Capital One SavorOne Card features the same three bonus categories as the Savor Card which are dining, entertainment, and grocery purchases. There is no cap on any of these bonus categories and there is no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn using the SavorOne Card.

3% Dining

The Capital One SavorOne card earns 3% cash back on all dining purchases. This is a solid return for dining in the cash back credit card world. The Capital One Savor Card earns 4% cash back, but with an annual fee. If you spend more than $800 per month between both Dining and Entertainment, the Savor Card would be the better choice. If you spend less than that, the SavorOne would benefit you more.

Two other cash back credit cards that earn a great return on dining out are the PNC Cash Rewards Card (3% cash back) and the Barclay Uber Card (4% cash back). Both of these cards also have no annual fee. The Uber card has no foreign transaction fee (great for out of country charges)!

3% Entertainment

Entertainment is a rare category in the credit card world. The SavorOne card earns 3% cash back on this category. Capital One considers entertainment category to be:

  • Movie Theaters, Video Rentals (non-digital)
  • Tourist Attractions, Amusement Parks, Aquarium, Zoos
  • Billiard/Pool Establishments, Bowling Alleys, Ticket Events (i.e. bands, commercial sports, live performances)

The Citi ThankYou Premier also offer a bonus category on entertainment purchases. It earns 2x ThankYou Points per $1 spent which is an easy value of 2% but can be higher if you transfer the points to Citi's airline partners.

2% Grocery/Supermarket

The Capital One SavorOne Card earns 2% cash back on all grocery purchases. Do note that this will not include grocery purchases made at gas stations, convenience stores, warehouse clubs, discount stores, and super stores. This means places such as Target and Walmart are not included. Double cash back on grocery is nothing too big as many cards offer either the same amount of cash back or more. Cards such as the Bank of America Cash Rewards Card and the PNC Cash Rewards Card both offer 3% cash back on grocery purchases.

1% Non-Category

Non-bonus category purchases on this card will only earn 1% cash back. If you're staying within the Capital One family, I recommend picking up the Quicksilver Card so that you can always earn at least 1.5% cash back on all purchases. There are also other popular flat rate cards such as the Citi Double Cash earns double cash back for all purchases.

Perks and Benefits

World Elite Mastercard Benefits

There are no special perks or bonuses specific to the Capital One SavorOne Card, but this card does feature World Elite Mastercard Benefits such as extended warranty, price protection, complimentary concierge service, and 24-hour travel assistance services. The minimum credit limit for an approved Savor card is $1,000. Depending on your approved credit limit the card may become a World Elite Mastercard.

Sign Up Bonus

The SavorOne card sign up bonus is $150 after you spend $500 within the first three months of account opening. This is significantly lower than the Savor Card sign up bonus, but requires a lot less spend.

Credit Card Fees

Annual Fee

There is no annual fee for the Capital One SavorOne Card. This means you will always come out ahead with a positive return when using the SavorOne.

Authorized User Fee

There is no authorized user fee for adding additional users to the Capital One SavorOne Card. If you have family and friends that spend in the categories above, I recommend adding them. You might want to also check out the earning capabilities of the Savor Card if there's high spend in both restaurant and entertainment across all card holders.

Foreign Transaction Fee

There is no foreign transaction fee for the SavorOne card making it a great card for out of country travel!
