Best Western Mastercard
Calculate the cash value of the Best Western Mastercard based on spend and compare against top rewards cards.
The Best Western Mastercard is the no annual fee card that Best Western offers for their rewards program. While the card does offer Best Western Gold Elite Status, the rewards earned by running spend through the card is minimal. You're better off grabbing the Best Western Premium Mastercard or placing spend on a card that earns a higher return on travel and/or hotel spending.
Bonus Categories
The Best Western Mastercard features only one bonus category and that's spending done at Best Western brand hotels. There is no cap to the amount of Best Western points you can earn spending in the bonus category and no limit to the amount of points you can earn in general with the card.
3x Best Western
The Best Western Mastercard earns 3 Best Western Points per $1 spent at Best Western hotels. This is equal to a 2.1% return which can easily be beat by the Best Western Premium Mastercard offering a return of 7% or most popular rewards card that feature travel and/or hotel as a bonus category like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Barclays Uber Card. Looking at Best Western spend alone, this card breaks even with it's premium counterpart at around $1,980 in yearly spend. Of course this is not including the other benefits that come with the Premium version like the slight boost in bonus points and the anniversary bonus of 20,000 points for running spend through the card.
2x Non-Category
All non-category spend ran through the card will earn you 2 Best Western Points per $1 spent. This equal to around a 1.4% return and is not the best when it comes to earnings. Outside of finding other cards to fill the gap in your most used categories, I would recommend picking up a 2% cash back earning card like the Citi Double Cash or PayPal Cashback Mastercard.

There is no annual fee for the Best Western Mastercard. This means you don't have to worry about running a certain amount of spend to make the card worth it.
