Expedia Credit Card
Review the benefits of the Expedia Rewards credit card, calculate how many Expedia Points you can earn based on your spend, & compare results to top cards.
The Citi Expedia Rewards Credit Card earns Expedia Rewards Points at a decent rate for anyone looking to earn points without paying a fee. The only drawback is that the Expedia Voyager Credit Card is the better card without much effort due to the additional point per $1 spent, the $100 annual air travel fee credit it comes with that wipes out the fee, and the complimentary Expedia Gold Status. If you're looking to earn rewards with Expedia, I recommend picking up the Voyager.
The Expedia credit card offers one bonus category which is spending with Expedia. There is no limit to the amount of Expedia points you can earn spending in this bonus category and no limit to the amount of Expedia Points you can earn using the card.
Expedia credit cardholders will earn 3 Expedia Points per $1 spent when they use their card to make purchases with Expedia. This includes purchases such as flights, hotels, cars, activities and travel packages booked through Expedia. Expedia Points are worth the highest value of 1.42 cents each when redeemed for VIP-hotel bookings which gives you at most a 4.26% return. The Expedia Voyager Card earns one additional points for a total of 4 Expedia Points at a max return of 5.68%.
Non-Expedia purchases made on the Expedia credit card will earn 1 Expedia Point per $1 spent. If you're redeeming Expedia Rewards Points for VIP-hotels, you'll be earning a 1.42% return which isn't bad. You'll have to determine if picking up a 1.5% cash back credit card is worth the 0.08% you're losing out on (more than likely it's not). If you want to earn more or you're not redeeming your points for VIP-hotels, you can go for a 2% cash back credit card such as the Citi Double Cash or PayPal Cashback Mastercard in which both has no annual fee.
Perks and Benefits
Complimentary Silver Status
Expedia credit card members will receive complimentary Expedia Silver Status. This comes with benefits such as free perks at VIP Access hotels (WiFi, breakfast, credits, etc.), 10% bonus points, and a personal expedited customer service line. This is normally earned after 7 Nights spend at hotels booked through Expedia or by spending $5,000 with Expedia. You can earn complimentary Expedia Gold Status with the Expedia Voyager Card.
Earn Qualifying Hotel Nights
Expedia credit card holders will earn 1 Elite Qualifying Hotel Nights towards Expedia gold status for every $2,500 in purchases made on the card between your January and December billing statements. Gold Status is obtained after reaching a total of 15 nights or spending $10,000 with Expedia. Expedia Gold Status comes with a 30% boost in earned points, complimentary room upgrades, and an expedited customer service line. As previously mentioned, you can also earn Expedia Gold by merely owning the Expedia Voyager Card.
Sign Up Bonus
The current sign up bonus for the Expedia credit card is 20,000 Expedia Points after spending after spending $1,000 on qualifying purchases within first 3 months of account opening. When redeemed towards VIP Hotels, you're looking at a value of $284 which isn't too bad for only having to run $1,000 in spend on the card.
Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The Expedia credit card has no annual fee so you will not have to worry about trying to meet a certain amount of spend to justify having the card.
Authorized User Fee
There is no fee to add authorized users to the Expedia credit card. If you have friends or family that spend money with Expedia, adding them to your card as additional users can help you build up your Expedia Points. If you do plan on adding users, I recommend taking a look at the Voyager Card as it's almost a 99% chance you'll earn more points.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The Expedia credit card has no foreign transaction fee. This means you can make purchases outside of the United States and not worry about receiving extra fees.
You can use this rewards calculator to calculate how many points, miles, or cash back you can earn based on your spend per category. This calculator will also give you the dollar value of the card based on rewards earned and how much each benefit is worth to you minus the fees. You can click the Compare A Card button to compare this card against another card in the same calculator.
All category spend entered in the primary card's column will carry over to all credit card pages on the site so you don't have to re-enter the same information over again.
