Scene+ Points Value: What They Are Worth & Best Uses

Travel redemptions: 1 cent per point.

Scene+ points can be redeemed for travel at a value of 1 cent per point meaning that 10,000 Scene+ points would have a value of $100 towards travel. Points can be redeemed for travel by booking through Scene+ Travel or by applying them to travel purchases made to a Scotiabank credit card.

Scene+ Travel

Scene+ Travel, powered by Expedia, replaces the Scotia Rewards Travel Service. Similar to TD Rewards' ExpediaForTD, you can book travel through the portal and choose to pay cash, redeem Scene+ points, or do a mixture of both.

Apply points to travel

Scene+ points can be redeemed at a rate of 100 points for $1 in statement credit towards travel purchases made to an eligible Scotiabank credit or debit card. This gives your points the same 1 cent in value that you'll get booking through Scene+ Travel.

You can use the Apply Points option within 12 months from the date the travel was charged to your card. Travel for the Scene+ program is defined by Visa's merchant codes which includes, but is not limited to:

• Airlines
• Hotels/Motels, resorts, and campgrounds
• Car rentals
• Passenger railways, bus lines, and taxis
• Cruise lines and steamships
• Travel agencies and tour operators

This is a great option if you're one for booking hotels direct as you'll be able to earn hotel rewards points as well as earn credit towards elite status.

Book travel with any travel provider and use your Scotia Points to wipe away the cost.

Redeeming Scene+ points with Cineplex: 1 cent per point.

The original SCENE program offered great value when redeeming points with Cineplex and the Scene+ program is no different. Redeeming Scene+ points with Cineplex will give you a value of 1 cent per point on average.

You can redeem 500 points for $5 towards food and drink at the movies. You can also redeem 100 points for $1 off movie rentals or purchases at the Cineplex Store.

Scene+ points can also be used for movie tickets which will give you anywhere from 0.8 to 1.3 cents per point. It will cost you the following amounts for Cineplex movie tickets:

• 1,250 points - General admission or 3D movie ticket
• 2,000 points - Enhanced movie ticket (UltraAVX, IMAX, and D-Box)
• 2,500 points - VIP movie ticket

Depending on the movie theatre and type of ticket you're buying, the value will vary. As with the original SCENE program, General Admission and 3D movie tickets offer the best value.

Redeeming Scene+ points for grocery: 1 cent per point.

Scene points can be redeemed in-store or online with participating grocery stores, liquor stores, convenience stores, and pharmacies. Every 1,000 Scene+ points redeemed is equal to $10.

This currently applies to Atlantic and Western Canada. It will apply to Ontario starting November 3rd, 2022.

Redeeming Scene+ points with dining partners: 1 cent per point.

Scene+ points can be redeemed with a handful of dining partners at a value of 1 cent per point. This includes:

• Harvey's Swiss Chalet
• East Side Mario's
• Montana's BBQ & Bar
• Bier Markt
• Fionn Macool's
• Kelsey's Original Roadhouse

You can redeem 500 points for $5 in value on dine-in, drive-thru or take-out with any dining partner. You can also redeem Scene+ points on alcoholic purchases at select partners in some provinces.

Rec Room & Playdium redemptions: 1 cent per point.

Scene+ points can be redeemed towards food, music, and tickets at the Rec Room and game tokens, snacks, and 'fun' at the Playdium. You can redeem 500 points for $5 in value which gives your points a value of 1 cent per point.

Gift card redemptions: 0.74 cents per point.

Scene+ points can be redeemed for gift cards at over 60 different retailers with redemptions starting at 3,350 points for a $25 gift card. This gives your points a value of 0.74 cents each.

Statement credits and cash back: 0.66 cents to 0.8 cents per point.

Scene+ points can be applied to non-travel purchases charged to your Scotiabank card as a statement credit. This will give you between 0.66 and 0.8 cents per point depending on how many points you redeem at once.

This isn't a better value than travel, but it's still a pretty solid redemption for shaving down your balance assuming you're redeeming a large chunk of points at once.

Best Buy & Apple

Scene+ points can be used to make purchases in the Scene+ Apple online store and Scene+ Best Buy online store. When paying with points, you can pay with as little as 20% of the items value plus taxes in points and charge the remaining 80% to any payment product of your choice.
