The AMEX Gold Card (Canada) features four bonus categories which are gas stations, grocery stores, drug stores, and travel purchases. There is no bonus cap on any of these categories and no limit to the amount of Membership Reward Points you can earn spending across these categories.
The AMEX Gold Card (Canada) earns 2 Membership Reward Points per $1 spent on travel purchases. This includes flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, and anything else related to travel.
2x Gas Stations
Gas station spend ran across the AMEX Gold Card (Canada) will earn 2 Membership Reward Points per $1 spent. This applies to stand-alone automobile gasoline stations in Canada.
The AMEX Gold Card (Canada) earns 2 Membership Reward Points per $1 spent on grocery spending in Canada.
Using the AMEX Gold Card (Canada) at drugstores in Canada will earn 2 Membership Reward Points per $1 spent.
Spending on the AMEX Gold Card (Canada) outside of the categories listed above will earn 1 Membership Reward Point per $1 spent.

The AMEX Gold Card (Canada) features a few useful benefits that can be good for those who travel.
AMEX Gold Card (Canada) Cardholders that use their card to make eligible hotel or car rental bookings on the American Express Travel Portal will earn one additional Membership Rewards Point per $1 spent.
The Hotel Collection
AMEX Gold Cardholders will receive access to The Hotel Collection from American Express. This offers a $100 USD hotel credit on charges to the room such as dining, spa, and golf as well as complimentary room upgrades at check-in when available. A minimum of two consecutive nights must be booked on the American Express Travel using an American Express card.
Hertz Car Rental Benefit
AMEX Gold Cardholders will have special privileges when renting with Hertz. Once enrolled into the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Program, cardholders will receive one car class upgrades on rentals of 5 or more consecutive days and the fee will be waived for one additional driver.

No Preset Spending Limit
The AMEX Gold Card (Canada) is a charge card that has no pre-set spending limit (NPSL). This does not mean infinite spending, but it does allow flexability. As you use the card, the amount you can spend on it will adjust. Do note that charge cards require the full balance to be paid every month.

Authorized User Fee
The first authorized user on the AMEX Gold (Canada) is no charge. Additional AMEX Gold Cards after the first one will cost $50 per card.
Foreign Transaction Fee
Foreign transactions ran across the AMEX Gold (Canada) will incur an additional 2.5% for each charge.
