Best AMEX transfer partners

There's great value to be had out of pretty much all of AMEX's travel partners, but here are the most notable partners.

British Airways Avios

Membership Rewards points can be transferred to British Airways at a 1:1 ratio. This means that transferring 1,000 AMEX points will give you 1,000 British Airways Avios.

Avios are worth anywhere from 0.5p to 2.5p depending on the redemption. You'll get the best value when redeeming them for Business and First class flights with British Airways and oneworld partners or when you use them to upgrade cash flights to Business class.

Virgin Atlantic Points

Membership Rewards points can be transferred to Virgin Atlantic at a 1:1 ratio meaning that 1,000 AMEX points can be converted to 1,000 Virgin points.

Virgin Atlantic points are worth as low as 0.5p each for Economy flights, but can be worth between 1p and 2p when used for premium and upper class flights. The more expensive the flight, the more value you'll get out of Virgin Points.

Nectar Points

Nectar is the largest loyalty card scheme in the United Kingdom featuring over 14 companies and 400 online retailers.

Membership Rewards points can be transferred to Nectar at a 1:1 ratio meaning that 1,000 AMEX points can be converted to 1,000 Nectar points. Since Nectar points are worth 0.5p each, transferring your AMEX points to Nectar will make them worth 0.5p each as well.

Nectar offers two co-branded credit cards, both of which are better options if you're looking to earn and redeem rewards with Sainsbury's, Argos, and other Nectar partners.

Marriott Bonvoy Points

Membership Rewards points can be transferred to Marriott Bonvoy at a 2:3 ratio meaning that every 2,000 AMEX points you transfer will give you 3,000 Marriott points. While this is a solid transfer ratio, you can do better with Marriott's own co-branded credit card which earns 6 points per £1 spent with Marriott and 2 points per £1 spent on everything else.

Marriott Bonvoy Points can easily be redeemed for anywhere between 0.6p and 1p each towards free nights without much effort. So using Membership Rewards points to top off your account can still offer more value than redeeming points directly with AMEX.

Hilton Honors Points

There are no co-branded Hilton credit cards available in the UK. This means that you'll need to stay at Hilton Hotels and spend with their partners in order to boost your Hilton Honors Points balance.

If you're looking to earn some additional points, AMEX Membership Rewards Points can be transferred from AMEX directly to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio meaning that every 1,000 AMEX Points you transfer will give you 2,000 Hilton Honors Points.

Pretty much all of AMEX's credit cards offer rewards at a base of 1 point per £1 spent which means that these cards will earn you the equivalent of 2 Hilton Honors Points per £1 spent which isn't too bad if you're really trying to earn points with Hilton.

Radisson Rewards Points

There are no co-branded Radisson credit cards available in the UK. Luckily, AMEX Points can be transferred to Radisson at a ratio of 1:3 meaning that 1,000 Membership Rewards Points will give you 3,000 Radisson Rewards Points.

The Point Calculator values Radisson Rewards Points to be worth around 0.4p in the United Kingdom so being able to transfer 1 AMEX Point to around 1.2p in value is not bad at all.

All of AMEX's credit cards offer at least 1 point per £1 spent on purchases meaning you can earn the equivalent of 3 points per £1 with their cards. The sign up bonuses offered on AMEX's cards can also provide you with a big chunk of points if you're really looking to earn some serious Radisson Rewards Points.
