Alaska Mileage Plan Miles can be earned flying Alaska and partners, renting cars, booking hotels, and shopping online. Since none of the major bank rewards programs feature Alaska as a direct transfer partners, you'll want to consider spending with Alaska's partners in order to build your balance faster.

Alaska Airline Partners

Along with flying Alaska Airlines, Alaska Miles can also be accumulated flying several affiliate airlines. The amount of miles you earn on these will vary depending on the cabin and class of service you're flying with partner airlines. Base miles and class of service bonuses on these airlines count towards Alaska Mileage Plan elite status for all airlines listed below except for PenAir and Ravn Alaska.

Alaska Hotel Partners

You can earn Alaska Miles booking with 7 hotel partners or by booking through the Alaska Airlines Hotels portal. Most of the hotel partners require you to log into your hotel loyalty account and change your earning preferences to Alaska Airlines Miles. This will usually prove to be a loss of value for the hotel reward programs that are Alaska Airlines transfer partners. It will also not be worth changing your preference if you have elite status with a hotel program.

Alaska Mileage Plan Dining

Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn additional miles dining through the Alaska Mileage Plan Dining program. Earn up to 5 miles per $1 spent on the entire bill including food, drinks, tax, and tip. Members can also earn 1,000 bonus miles with their first meal. Miles are earned by registering your credit card(s) with the dining program. When your card is used to make a purchase at a restaurant that is in their network, you'll earn bonus miles. Make sure you're adding a card that earns a great return on restaurant purchases.

Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping

Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn miles per $1 spent shopping at hundreds of stores such as Best Buy, Macy's, and Walmart through the Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping portal. Alaska also has a Mileage Plan Shopping Button which can alert you to miles-earning opportunities right at store sites. This can be great for anyone that is looking to earn a solid amount of miles through online shopping.
