Review the benefits of the revamped Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX (2020), calculate how many SkyMiles you can earn based on spend, and compare to top cards.

The Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX Card is great for those who fly Delta a few times per year that also wants a handful of useful travel benefits when traveling Delta. This includes free checked bags, an annual companion pass for a person to tag along in Main Cabin for just the cost of taxes/fees, and a nice return on hotel spending along with bonus points for large purchases. While it doesn't have the useful business categories offered on the Delta SkyMiles Gold Business AMEX, it's still a great business card for those who fly Delta often.

Bonus Categories

The Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX Card features two bonus categories which are Delta airlines and hotel purchases. There is no limit to the amount of bonus SkyMiles you can earn spending in these two categories and no limit to the amount of SkyMiles you can earn with the card overall.

Large purchases of $5,000 or more will also grant you an additional 0.5 points per $1 spent for a total multiplier of 1.5x. You can earn up to an additional 50,000 extra miles associated with this benefit per calendar year. Do note that this is not factored into the SkyMiles Calculator featured on this page.

Sign Up Bonus (SUB)

The standard sign up bonus for the Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX is 50,000 SkyMiles after making $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of having the card. At times, this card also offers an alternative sign up bonus of 5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 35,000 SkyMiles after you make $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of having the card. The better option of the two is the 50,000 SkyMiles unless you really cherish MQMs.

Promotional sign up bonuses for the Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX can be as high as 70,000 SkyMiles. This is what you'll want to aim for if you're looking for a solid sign up bonus that can take you far.

Annual Fee

The annual fee for the Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX Card is $250. In my opinion, the companion pass alone makes up for the fee of the card if you plan on taking a trip with another person. Outside of the companion pass, Status Boost and the MQD Waiver can also be great benefits if you have the ability to run heavy spend through the card. If none of those benefits tickle your fancy, you'll want to consider looking at Delta SkyMiles Gold Business AMEX Card.

Authorized User Fee

The Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX does not have a fee associated with adding additional employee cards. If you have employees (or family/friends) that spend money on Delta and hotel purchases or you need help trying to hit the MQD Waiver and Status Boost, adding additional users will help you hit your goal.

Foreign Transaction Fee

The Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business AMEX has a 0$ foreign transaction fee. This means you can use the card for intentional travel and spending without being penalized. While it's great that it has a 0% FTF, this card will not earn you much in terms of non-category spend. You'll want to consider Membership Rewards credit cards for international travel and transfer those earned points to your Delta SkyMiles account.

and Card Value Calculator

You can use this rewards calculator to calculate how many points, miles, or cash back you can earn based on your spend per category. This calculator will also give you the dollar value of the card based on rewards earned and how much each benefit is worth to you minus the fees.
