Hawaiian Miles have an average value of around 1.2 cents each when redeemed for flights on Hawaiian Airlines. You can also redeem your Hawaiian Miles for flights with several partner airlines, gift cards for car rental and shopping partners, magazines and newspapers.
Hawaiian Miles Value Calculator
Use the Hawaiian Miles Value Calculator to calculate the average cash value of Hawaiian Miles based on the listed redemptions. Average values (denoted by '~') are based on how much The Point Calculator values that redemption based on research and number crunching. You can put any value in the field below.
Redeem For Award Flights
Hawaiian Miles will generally have the best value of around 1.2 cents each when redeemed for award flights. Flights booked on Hawaiian Airlines can cost you as low as 7,500 HawaiianMiles when traveling between neighboring Hawaii Island. Redemptions for travel from North America starts at 20,000 HawaiianMiles and goes up from there. When booking travel on Hawaiian Airlines flights, you can get a discount if you have Hawaiian Pualani Status or if you're a Premier Club Member.
The amount of miles it will cost you to get between any destination and Hawaii will depend on the zone you're flying from. Generally, the farther away the more it will cost you. They do not define the zones for North America really well, so it's best to just go to the Hawaiian Airlines website, plug in the flight details, and see how much the flight would cost you in miles.
Hawaiian Airlines Partner Airlines
HawaiianMiles can be redeemed with a few partner airlines. In order to use your HawaiianMiles on partner airlines, you'll need to call the HawaiianMiles Service Center. Bookings will need to be for a roundtrip award. You will not be able to redeem your miles for flights that are one-way, multi-city or have layovers/stopovers. Redeeming your HawaiianMiles on partner flights will generally give you less value.
You can redeem HawaiianMiles on the following partner airlines:
The amount of HawaiianMiles required will depend on the airline. Do note that the airline will need to be operating the flight. If a partner airline is codesharing and not the one operating the flight, you will not be able to use your HawaiianMiles.
The table below lists the minimum and maximum redemption values for each partner airline. You can get the full details on their website under Hawaiian Airlines Partner Airlines Redemptions Charts.
|Partner Airline||Redemption Cost|
|Japan Airlines||Economy 12k-120k Miles; Premium 15k-170k Miles; Business 40k-240k Miles|

Redeem For Car Rentals
HawaiianMiles can be redeemed to rent cars with Avis and Budget at a value of 0.5 cents per mile. When you redeem your miles, you'll be redeeming them for a gift certificate with either rental car company which comes in denominations of $50, $100, and $200 which will cost you 10k, 20k, and 40k HawaiianMiles respectively.
If you're looking for free rentals, I recommend signing up for either Avis Preferred Rewards or Budget Car Rental Rewards. Both programs offer great perks and benefits along with the ability to earn free rentals or earn hotel rewards points and airline miles on every rental.
Redeem For Hotel Stays
Hawaiian Miles can only be used to book stays at Hilton Hotels. This is done by transferring your HawaiianMiles to your Hilton Honors account. For every 1 HawaiianMile you transfer, you'll receive 1.5 Hilton Honors Points. You'll have to transfer a minimum of 10,000 Hawaiian Miles and they can only be transferred in 10,000-mile increments.
This can be useful if you need to top off your Hilton Honors account, but this will generally devalue your Hawaiian Miles. The Point Calculator values 10,000 Hawaiian Miles at an average value of $120 and 15,000 Hilton Honors Points at an average value of $90.
Redeem For Shopping & Dining
Hawaiian Miles can be redeemed for gift certificates with several grocery, shopping, and dining partners for a value of 0.5 cents per mile. You can redeem them for gift cards with the following partners:
- The Alley Restaurant
- Zippy's Restaurants
- 7-Eleven Hawaii
- 76 (Gas Station)
Gift cards are in $25 denominations and will cost you 5,000 HawaiianMiles.
Redeem For Magazines and Newspapers
Use your Hawaiian Miles to redeem magazines and newspapers. Magazines can be redeemed through MagsForMiles. Since magazines are cheap and the amount of HawaiianMiles required to redeem a magazines subscription starts as low as 200 miles, you can get some great value out of your HawaiianMiles. If you have a small balance of HawaiianMiles you're looking to get rid of or your HawaiianMiles are due to expire, this is a great option to consider.
HawaiianMiles can also be used for a newspaper subscription. As with magazines, this will give your miles good value. Available options will depend on your zip code.
Hawaiian Miles can be shared between members. This can be very useful for pooling points to get to award travel faster.
If you are a cardholder of the Hawaiian Airlines Mastercard, Bankoh Hawaiian Airlines Visa or Hawaiian Airlines Visa (Japan), you'll be able to share HawaiianMiles free of charge.
- No transaction fees for mileage transfers
- No charges per mile
- No minimum or maximum number of miles transferred
- 10 share transactions per calendar year
If you don't have a Hawaiian Airlines credit or debit card, it will cost you share HawaiianMiles between members.
- $25 service fee
- $0.01 per mile transfer fee
- Minimum of 2,000 HawaiianMiles must be transferred
Without a Hawaiian Airlines credit card, transferring a simple 2,000 HawaiianMiles would cost you a $25 service fee plus $20 at the rate of $0.01 per mile for a total of $45. While that is quite a bit of fees, it's still cheaper than buying miles.
HawaiianMiles can be donated to charity. If you're in the mood to give or you need to redeem your expiring miles, you have over 10 different charities to choose from:
- American Cancer Society Pacific, Inc.
- American Red Cross of Hawaii
- Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii
- Blood Bank of Hawaii
- The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL)
- Friends of Hokule'a and Hawai'iloa
- Hawaiian Humane Society
- HUGS (Help, Understanding, and Group Support)
- Make-A-Wish Hawaii
- Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project
- National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii
- Shriners Hospital for Children of Honolulu
- Special Olympics Hawaii
There's a solid amount of redemption options when it comes to using your HawaiianMiles. The best option will be for award travel on Hawaiian Airlines, but you'll a handful of alternatives if that's not the route you wish to take.
