Chase 5/24 Rule
All United credit cards are offered by Chase Bank which means they fall under Chase's 5/24 rule. In short, this means that if you have opened more than 5 new credit card accounts within the last 24 months (2 years), you will more than likely not be approved for a Chase credit card. This includes personal Chase cards as well as personal cards opened at other banks.
If you're not sure of how many new accounts you've opened, you can sign up for a free Credit Karma account . It will show you how many new accounts you've opened and you can use that to see if you fall under Chase's 5/24 rule.
