American Express has a total of 10 credit cards that you can use to earn Membership Rewards Points. This consists of six personal credit cards and four business credit cards.

The AMEX Credit Card Comparison Calculator will compare any two cards or combinations you choose based on your spend, the value of the benefits offered on each card, and any annual fees the card may have. If you want to compare Membership Rewards credit cards against cards outside of the Membership Rewards family, you'll need to visit that card's specific Membership Rewards Points Calculator.

AMEX Blue Business Plus Card

The AMEX Blue Business Plus Card is the best option for non-category purchases as it earns 2x Membership Rewards Points on the first $50,000 in purchases made during the calendar year. I recommend trying to pick up this card regardless of whether you plan on using it for business or personal spend.

  • 2x Points On First $50,000 In Purchases

AMEX Combinations and Trifectas

In order to get the most out of your Membership Rewards credit cards, you'll typically have to pick up more than one card. Finding the best combination of AMEX credit cards will heavily depend on how you plan on using. The combinations listed below are the most commonly recommended. These combinations are available in the AMEX Comparison Calculator on this page.

AMEX Green + Everyday Preferred

The AMEX Green and AMEX Everyday Preferred combination covers the categories of travel, restaurant/dining, U.S. supermarket, and gas station purchases. It's a powerful combination that offers maximum rewards and no overlapping categories.

AMEX Green + Everyday

The AMEX Green and AMEX Everyday combination covers the categories of travel, restaurant/dining, and U.S. supermarket purchases. It's a great combination for those who want to earn a great return on traveling and dining while also earning points on the occasional grocery store visit.

AMEX Trifecta 1

The AMEX Trifecta 1 consists of the AMEX Platinum, AMEX Gold, and AMEX Blue Business Plus Card. This is the most common trifecta for those who frequently travel and wants to earn a great amount of points on restaurant/dining and U.S. supermarket purchases. The Blue Business Plus supports this combination by earning double points on all other purchases.
