The Citi ThankYou Rewards Program has over 14 airline transfer partners. Of these partners, all but 1 transfers at a ratio of 1,000 ThankYou Points for 1,000 airline miles. This means you can earn valuable airline miles at an excellent rate for several frequent flyer programs that you normally would not be able to do with standard co-branded airline cards.

Citi Transfer Partners

Citi ThankYou Points can be transferred to 14 airline partners. Those partners are:

  • Air France-KLM
  • Avianca
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Emirates
  • Etihad
  • Eva Air
  • JetBlue Airways
  • Malaysia Air
  • Qantas Air
  • Qatar Airways
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Thai Air
  • Turkish Air
  • Virgin Atlantic Airways

All of these partners except for JetBlue Airways transfers at a 1:1 ratio. The JetBlue transfer ratio is 5:4.

Citi ThankYou Points can only be transferred to the above partners if you hold either the Citi Prestige Card or Citi Premier Card. If you do not have either card, you'll only be able to transfer ThankYou Points to JetBlue Airways.

Citi Airline Partners

All of Citi's transfer partners are frequent flyer programs and you can benefit from transferring ThankYou Points to each program due to the great transfer ratios.

SkyTeam Alliance

Citi ThankYou Rewards Points transfers to one SkyTeam loyalty program which is:

  • Air France-KLM (Flying Blue)

Flying Blue is a direct transfer partner of all major U.S. rewards programs, so earning miles with the program is quite easy to do. If you're looking to earn rewards to fly airlines that are in the SkyTeam alliance though, Citi ThankYou Rewards will not be the best option since you'll only be able to use Flying Blue to book award flights on other alliance airlines. In my opinion, the AMEX Membership Rewards Program is the best option for those who enjoy flying SkyTeam alliance partners.

Oneworld Alliance

Citi ThankYou Rewards Points can be transferred to four airlines that are part of the oneworld Alliance. Those airlines are:

  • Cathay Pacific
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways

The ThankYou Rewards Program is the best for those looking to earn miles Qatar Qmiles and Malaysia Enrich Miles while Qantas Frequent Flyer Miles and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles can be earned through most of the major rewards programs.

Star Alliance

Citi ThankYou Rewards Points can be transferred to five airlines that are part of the Star Alliance. Those airlines are:

  • Avianca
  • Eva Air
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Thai Air
  • Turkish Air

If you're looking to earn Eva Air Bonus Miles, Thai Air Royal Orchard Plus Miles, or Turkish Air Miles and Smiles then Citi ThankYou Rewards will be the better choice over other major reward programs. Avianca Lifemiles and Singapore KrisFlyer Miles can be earned transferring points from several major programs.

Use Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles to book Delta One flights.

Non-Alliance Airline Partners

Citi transfers to several airline programs that are not part of an alliance. Those airlines are:

  • Emirates
  • Etihad
  • JetBlue Airways
  • Virgin Atlantic Airways

Emirates and Etihad provide great products and if you're looking to earn miles with these programs, Citi ThankYou Rewards is just one of the many options you'll have since you can also use several other major rewards programs.

JetBlue Airways is a direct transfer partner of all major U.S. bank rewards programs. Even with the transfer ratio being 5:4, you can still use Citi's line up of credit cards to earn a great amount of points. The Chase Ultimate Rewards Program is the only program that transfers to JetBlue at a 1:1 ratio.

Virgin Atlantic Airways has a joint venture with Delta Airlines which means they're basically joined at the hip. You can use Virgin Points to book award space on Delta and partner flights which can give you some superb value.

Summary

Citi has a nice handful of transfer partners that can be useful if you're trying to build points with certain airline programs. This also helps you obtain great value from your ThankYou Points since you'll have the chance to redeem them for more than 1 cent each once transferred.
