If you're a road warrior, you know how important gas and food are. Luckily, there's a lot of credit cards that specialize in earning you great rewards across both categories.
If you don't mind picking up a business card, the AMEX Business Gold is upper tier. The card earns 4 Membership Rewards Points per $1 spent in the two categories you spend the most in per month in which gas and dining are available categories out of a total of six. This can be as high as a 8%+ return when transferring points to AMEX's partners, a 5.2% return when redeeming for airfare through the AMEX Travel Portal, and an easy 4% or lower return for everything else.
If you're looking for rewards that are easily redeemable towards travel, the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX is at the top of the list. It earns a 3% return across travel (includes gas), dining, and streaming service spending. If you want to up the return to 4.5%, you can pick up the Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card which grants a 50% boost to point value when redeemed for airfare.
The Sam's Club Mastercard is a great option if you already have a membership. You'll be earning 5% cash back on gas and 3% cash back on both travel and dining. If you prefer Costco, the Costco Anywhere Visa is a great alternative that earns 4% on gas, 3% on travel and dining, and 2% back at Costco.
Outside of the Sam's Club and Costco credit cards, both of Bank of America's cash back credit cards allow you to pick one category to earn 3% cash back in. You would have to pick up both the personal and business card to nail 3% across both categories. With Bank of America, you can earn up to 5.25% cash back based on how much you have invest with them which is nice if you have money laying around to invest.
