How This Value Calculator Works

These tools help you quickly estimate the value of your Citi Points—whether you're calculating a simple point value, comparing redemption options, or estimating returns when transferring rewards to partners. Each calculator is designed to be fast, flexible, and easy to use.

How to use these calculators

There are several value calculators available:

Quick Value Calculator

Use the Quick Value Calculator to estimate the value of your Citi Points based on our valuations or your own. You can enter a Baseline and High-end value to create a personalized value range that will also carry over to the Redemption Value and Transfer Partner calculators.

  1. Enter your Citi Points balance in the Citi Points balance field.
  2. Optionally add your own Baseline value. If left blank, we'll use our valuation.
  3. Enter a High-end value if you'd like to generate an upper-range estimate.
  4. The Citi Points value summary will show your rewards' value based on the Baseline and High-end values.

The "Our Valuations" table will also show what your Citi Points are worth based on our estimates using the balance you entered.

Redemption Value Calculator

Use this calculator to compare the value of one or more award redemptions by entering the cash price, the cost in points, and any taxes or fees owed. This helps you determine which redemption offers the best value.

  1. Enter the cash price of the redemption—what you'd pay without using any points.
  2. Enter the cost in points in the points used field and any taxes/fees in the Cash paid field. You may optionally add an Option label to identify it.
  3. The value of the redemption will appear instantly in the Redemption comparison section.
  4. To compare multiple redemptions, click Add another rate to save the current option and start entering a new one.

If multiple redemptions are entered, the calculator will highlight which one provides the highest value.

Transfer Partner Value Calculator

This advanced calculator shows how much value you can get when transferring Citi Points to partner programs. It outputs the number of rewards you'll receive after transfer (including any bonuses) and estimates their value using our partner valuations. You can also enter a specific redemption to get an exact valuation.

  1. Enter the number of points you plan to transfer in the Citi Points to transfer field.
  2. Select a Transfer partner from the dropdown.
  3. Optionally add any Transfer promo bonus % or Extra bonus points from active promotions.
  4. The calculator will output how many points you'll receive with the partner program and the average value of those rewards (if we have a valuation for that program).

To calculate an exact redemption value for transferred rewards, use the Details about the redemption section:

  1. Enter the cash price of the award in the Cash price of the award field.
  2. Enter the award cost in Citi Points in the Redemption cost field and any taxes/fees in the Taxes & fees paid field.
  3. The calculator will output:
    • the cash value received (minus taxes/fees),
    • the value of the redemption itself, and
    • the effective value of the Citi Points you converted into partner rewards.

Where these numbers come from and how they are calculated

Our valuations are built from real redemption math. We review the redemption options available for each program and calculate either a single value (when it's fixed) or a value range (when redemptions can vary widely).

  • Basic redemption value formula: value per point = cash value ÷ points required

When a program has a wide spread of possible values, we identify common low-end and high-end outcomes, filter out obvious outliers, and publish a range that reflects realistic redemption scenarios.

Because point values depend heavily on how you redeem, these calculators let you use any value you want—or plug in our valuation range as a starting point. That way, the results match your own redemption style, not just a one-size-fits-all estimate.
