With a few exceptions, you'll find that most transfers from Hilton Honors to partners are at either a 10:1 or 10:1.5 ratio meaning you'll earn 1,000 or 1,500 miles/points for every 10,000 Hilton Honors Points you transfer.

You can use the point transfer calculator at the bottom of this page to get the exact ratio for each program and calculate the transfer of points.

How To Transfer Hilton Points

Transferring Hilton Honors Points to airline miles and rail rewards programs is pretty easy to do. Before you're able to transfer Hilton Points, you'll need to add airlines or Amtrak to your list of preferred travel partners.

You can do this under Hilton - My Preferences when logged into your Hilton Honors account and you can enter as many partners as you want. I recommend doing so to save time in the future for when you need to make a quick transfer.

Do note that you will need the membership number for each program you add so have those handy.

hilton preferred partners

Once you've added at least one partner, you'll be able to transfer Hilton Honors Points. You can get started on transferring Hilton Honors Points following these steps:

  1. Head to Hilton's Points Exchange page.
  2. Select Use Points to get miles.
  3. Select a transfer partner from the list and the exchange rate. Hit Next.
  4. Review the request, agree to the terms, and confirm the transfer.

Depending on the program, you should see the transferred points reflected in your airline frequent flyer or Amtrak Guest Rewards account.

Are Transferring Points Worth It?

In my opinion, transferring Hilton Honors Points will typically not be worth it. Hilton Honors Points have an average value of 0.6 cents each whereas your standard airline mile will average around 1.2 to 1.4 cents each with some outliers being around 2-3 cents for those snazzy first class and business class redemptions.

Looking at the mathematics, 10 Hilton Honors Points holds an average value of $0.60 which when transferred to 1 mile will give you $0.12 to $0.3 cents and transferred to 1.5 miles give you $0.18 to $0.45 based on the 1.2 cents to 3 cent airline mile redemption values.

I only recommend transferring Hilton Honors Points to airline partners if you're trying to empty your Hilton Honors account due to the fact that you're not going to use them.

Buying 2,000 Delta SkyMiles is cheaper in value than losing 20,000 in Hilton Honors Points transferring them.

You can also use the point transfer to top off your account, but the value of the points you're transferring is so high that buying miles/points would be the cheaper option ins ome instances.

For example, 2,000 Delta SkyMiles would require you to transfer 20,000 Hilton Honors Points which is worth $120 on average. You can buy 2,000 Delta SkyMiles for US $70. Yes... that's expensive, but there's a $50 difference in value there.

The plus to transferring points is that it will cost you nothing whereas buying points will. So that can be a small plus depending on how you look at it.

The Hilton Transfer Partners Calculator will calculate the transfer of Hilton Honors Points to Hilton's partners. You can enter any amount of Hilton Honors Points to see how many miles or points you'll end up receiving with each program once transferred.
