CIBC Dividend Visa earning rates

All bonus categories (2% and 1%) are capped at $80,000 in net annual purchases across all cardholders or $20,000 across each specific category, whichever comes first. Once that cap is hit, all card purchases will earn at the normal rate of 0.5% cash back.

2% Grocery

The CIBC Dividend Visa Card earns 2% cash back on grocery store purchases. This includes supermarkets as well.

1% Gas Station

The CIBC Dividend Visa Card earns 1% cash back on gas station purchases.

1% Transportation

The CIBC Dividend Visa Card earns 1% cash back on transportation purchases. This is defined as local and suburban commuter transportation in Canada such as subway, streetcar, taxi, limousine and ride-sharing services.

1% Dining

The CIBC Dividend Visa Card earns 1% cash back on dining purchases. This includes eating places and restaurants, drinking places, and fast food restaurants.

1% Recurring Payments

The CIBC Dividend Visa Card earns 1% cash back on recurring payments. This is defined as pre-authorized with a merchant to occur on a regular daily, monthly, or annual schedule in which the merchant classify as recurring.

0.5% Everything Else

All other purchases on the CIBC Dividend Visa Card will earn 0.5% cash back.
