For anyone looking to build Asiana Miles at a fast rate, the Asiana Airlines Credit Card is a good addition to your credit card family. It earns triple miles on Asiana Airlines airfare tickets and earns double miles on gas and grocery shopping. On top of that, it offers several additional perks including lounge invitations, bonus miles, and an annual rebate on ticket purchases!

Bonus Categories

The Asiana Airlines Credit Card features three bonus categories which are Asiana Airline ticket purchases, gas, and grocery. Purchases in these categories will earn additional Asiana Miles. A maximum of 200,000 miles can be earned using the Asiana Airlines Credit Card per calendar year (excluding bonus miles). Below are the details of each category.

3x Asiana Airlines

Purchasing Asiana airfare with the Asiana Airline Credit Card will earn 3 Asiana Miles per $1 spent. Earning triple miles using a co-branded credit card is a great deal when it comes to earning frequent flyer miles. Since Asiana Miles are generally worth 1.5 cents when redeemed for airfare, you're looking at a return of 4.5 cents which is very well worth the spend.

Cards that offer similar returns are mostly premium cards which are the AMEX Platinum Card (5% return), Chase Sapphire Reserve (4.5% return), and Citi Prestige Card (3.75% return). All of these cards are packed with elite travel perks and benefits for a hefty annual fee. The positive is that spending on these cards can grant you travel for any airline, so you're not tied down to only Asiana Airlines.

2x Gas Station

Using the Asiana Airlines Credit Card at gas stations will earn you 2 Asiana Miles per $1 spent. Bank of America considers gas stations to be service stations and automated fuel dispensers. Superstores and wholesale clubs that sell gasoline are not considered service stations. Earning double miles on gas stations is not too shabby since they are valued at 1.5 cents each which equals a 3% return. Other airlines that offer double miles for gas station purchases consist of the JetBlue Airways Credit Card, American Airlines AAdvantage Platinum Select, and Aeromexico Visa Signature Card. If you prefer cash back instead of miles, a 4% return can be earned with the PNC Cash Reward Card and a 3% return with the Bank of America Cash Rewards.

2x Grocery

Grocery spending with the Asiana Airlines Credit Card will earn 2 Asiana Miles per $1 spent. Bank of America considers the grocery category to include grocery stores/supermarkets, freezer/meat lockers, candy/nut/confection stores, dairy product stores, bakeries, and misc food stores. Superstores, discount stores, and wholesale clubs are not included. Similar to the gas station category, this is a 3% return. Other co-branded airline cards that offer double miles on grocery are the Citi AAdvantage MileUp Card and Aeromexico Visa Signature Card. Some of the best returns on grocery come from American Express which includes the Blue Cash Everyday (3% cash back), Blue Cash Preferred (6% cash back), and Everyday Preferred (4.5%+ return).

Non-Category

Any spending outside of the categories listed above will result in earning 1 Asiana Airlines Mile per $1 spent. Since one mile is worth about 1.5 cents each, putting non-category spend on this card can be useful for anyone looking to build Asiana Miles. If you're not looking to build them, use a simple 1.5% return or higher earning card such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card or Citi Double Cash.

Perks and Benefits

$100 Annual Rebate On Airfare

Asiana Airlines Credit Card holders will receive a $100 annual rebate towards the purchase of an Asiana airfare ticket. The amount will be credited back to the account within one to two billing cycles and must be purchased directly through Asiana Airlines.

The Hawaiian Mastercard offers a similar annual benefit of $100 off a companion ticket for a round trip coach travel between Hawaii and North America. Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines takes it a step farther by offering a free companion ticket (minus taxes and fees) for just holding certain cards. You can even get first class companion tickets annually with the Delta Reserve Card.

Asiana Lounge Passes

On the month of the card anniversary date, two Asiana Lounge invitations will be given to the Asiana Airlines Credit Card holder. These are only usable for lounges within the United States and only good for one invitation per person per visit.

The Korean Air Skypass Visa Signature Card offers two KAL lounge passes per year as well. Holders of the Delta Reserve Card will acquire Delta SkyClub Membership. You can take it a notch farther and pick up the Platinum Card which earns Centurion Lounge access, Priority Pass access, and Delta SkyClub access (when flying Delta).

10k Bonus Miles Annually

Asiana Airlines Card members will receive a 10,000 bonus miles certificate every year on the month of the card anniversary. The certificate is good towards a choice of Asiana Airlines international or Korea domestic air ticket, cabin class upgrade, or excess bag allowance. The Korean Air Skypass Cards offer a few bonus miles on card renewal along with the LATAM Visa Signature Card as well.

Sign Up Bonus

The standard Asiana Airlines credit card sign up bonus is 30,000 bonus miles after you make $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of account opening. 30,000 Asiana miles at minimum is worth $300 but can be worth as much as $450 depending on your origin and destination.

Credit Card Fees

Annual Fee
Authorized User Fee
Foreign Transaction Fee

Annual Fee

The annual fee for the Asiana Airlines Credit Card is $99 which is not bad for the perks it offers. The annual $100 rebate covers the fee in its entirety, so as long as you make use of the perks it's a great card to have if you fly Asiana if even a few times a year.

Authorized User Fee

There is no authorized user fee for adding additional users to the Asiana Airlines Credit Card. If you have friends or family that spend within the bonus categories on this card, I recommend adding them to help build Asiana Miles faster.

Foreign Transaction Fee

There is no foreign transaction fee for using the Asiana Airlines Credit Card outside of the United States. This means you can continue to earn Asiana Miles when using the card worldwide without worry about being penalized.
