Hyatt points value

Based on our valuations, Hyatt points are worth about 1.8 cents apiece meaning that 10,000 Hyatt points are worth about $180 in value towards free nights. This is the easiest value you can obtain with little to no research, but it doesn't take much additional work to get 2 cents or more in value out of Hyatt points.

Here's our breakdown on Hyatt points value based on redemption:

Hyatt Points Value
Redemption option Hyatt points value (in cents)
Award nights at Hyatt brand hotels, SLH, and Miraval 1.8 - 2.2
Hyatt All-Inclusive Hotels 1.4 - 1.8
Lindblad Expeditions 1.6

Dining, spa, and room charges 1 - 1.53

How to calculate Hyatt points value

The value of Hyatt points are not set in stone. You will not know the true value of your points until you can compare the award costs versus the cash cost.

Hyatt points value is calculated by dividing the cash cost of your hotel stay or other redemption by the number of points required for the redemption.

Hyatt Points Value = Cash Cost of Redemption ÷ Points Required To Book.

Redeeming Hyatt points for the best value

Hyatt points will have the best value when redeemed for free nights at Hyatt brand properties. You can also squeeze decent value out of Hyatt's hotel partners SLH and Miraval.

All other redemptions will give you significantly lower value.

Award night redemptions

Hyatt points can be redeemed at Hyatt brand hotels (including all-inclusive resorts), Miraval resorts, and at Small Luxury Hotels of the World. You'll get the best value when redeeming points Hyatt's own hotels which will give you anywhere from 1.8 to 2.2 cents per point on average.

Hyatt Brand Hotels

Hyatt is one of the few hotel rewards programs that still uses an award chart. The standard award chart is broken up by room type and then by off-peak, standard, and peak pricing. It includes stays at Hyatt hotels and resorts and participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Free night redemptions start at 3,500 Hyatt points per night for off-peak.

Hyatt All-Inclusive

Hyatt Points can be used to book award nights at all-inclusive resorts brands. This includes:

  • Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva
  • Alua Hotels & Resorts
  • Breathless Resorts & Spas
  • Dreams Resorts & Spas
  • Secrets Resorts & Spas
  • Impression by Secrets
  • Sunscape Resorts & Spas
  • Hyatt Vivid Hotels & Resorts (coming soon)
  • Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts

With all-inclusive hotels, everything is included in your stay. This includes lodging, food and restaurants on the resort, top shelf drinks, and most activities.

Stays booked at these resorts (as they begin to participate in the World of Hyatt program) using a all-inclusive award chart. As with the standard chart, it is broken up by room type and then by off-peak, standard, and peak pricing.

It also includes an extra section which details the amount of points per additional person staying in the room beyond double occupancy—up to 4 people per room.

Miraval resorts

Hyatt Points can be redeemed for stays at Miraval resorts. Awards nights booked at these resorts include luxury accommodations, a $175 resort credit per person, gourmet cuisine, freshly prepared snacks and beverages, and complimentary wellness activities, lectures, fitness classes and more.

Miraval resorts has their own award chart in which you can book a free night starting as low as 40,000 Hyatt Points.

Hyatt point transfers to airline partners

Hyatt Points can be transferred to over 20 airline partners mostly at a 2.5:1 ratio meaning that every 2,500 Hyatt Points you transfer will give you 1,000 airline miles.

On top of that, Hyatt gives you an additional 5,000 airline miles for every 50,000 Hyatt Points you transfer. This will give you 25,000 airline miles total per 50,000-point block which brings the ratio to 2:1.

While Hyatt does offer an excellent transfer ratio, the drawback is that converting your points to airline miles will devalue your points. 2.5 Hyatt points are worth about 4.5 cents in value per point whereas 1 airline mile ranges between 1 and 2 cents per point depending on the airline and the fare class.

So you'll want to take that into consideration if you plan on transferring your Hyatt points to their airline partners as your points will only be worth between 0.4 and 1.2 cents per point depending on the redemption.

Hyatt dining, spa, and room charges

You can apply your Hyatt Points to spa and dining charges at Hyatt's around the world regardless of whether or not you're spending the night at a Hyatt. You can also apply your points to in-room movies, parking, transportation, and more when you're staying as a guest.

Redeeming your Hyatt Points to cover these type of charges will give your points a minimum value of 1 cent per point for a $10 credit up to 1.53 cents per point for a $1,000 credit. You can use your points during checkout to cover these types of charges.

Meetings & events

If you plan on having a meeting or event at Hyatt, you can use your Hyatt Points to shave down the cost with a Meeting Credit. You can get anywhere from a $200 Meeting Credit for 15,000 Hyatt Points up to a $1,000 Meeting Credit for 75,000 Points.

This will give you 1.33 cents per point in value.

Using points for Lindblad Expeditions

Hyatt Points can be redeemed for expeditions with Lindblad Expeditions. These expeditions take you to various exciting and remote places such as Antarctica, Galápagos, the Arctic, and various (non-freezing) exotic destinations.

These expeditions can be anywhere from a couple of days like your typical cruise up to a month or longer. Cash prices for these expeditions hover in the thousands of dollars and some in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Do note that booking these expeditions will also give you a $250 USD onboard credit per reservation which adds to the overall value.

Renting cars with Avis

Hyatt points can be redeemed for rentals with Avis. For 6,000 Hyatt Points per day, you can book an intermediate-size car.

Based on rental experience with Avis as well as looking through their website, intermediate vehicles hover around $50-$70 on average so you'll get close to 1 cent in value for this redemption which is pretty low.

Hyatt FIND experiences

Hyatt Points can be used to pay for various experiences with Hyatt's FIND Experiences program. Experiences offered by this program features a range of categories such as culinary, fitness, tours, and more.

The value you get of this program will depend on the experience itself. Most of the experiences will have a cash value associated with them, but some are indeed priceless. So you'll have to figure out if an experience is worth your Hyatt Points or not.
