Cathay Pacific Credit Card
Calculate how many Asia Miles you can earn with the Cathay Pacific Visa Signature based on monthly/yearly spend, card benefits, and the annual fee.
The Cathay Pacific Credit Card is the only card available to United States residents that earn Asia Miles directly. It has a solid earning stucture and can be useful for anyone looking to earn Asia Miles when spending internationally, but falls short when it comes to earning on purchases within the United States.
The Cathay Pacific Credit Card features three bonus categories which are Cathay Pacific purchases, dining purchases, and international purchases. There is no limit to the amount of Asia Miles you can earn spending in these bonus categories and no limit to the amount Asia Miles you can earn with the card in general.
2x Cathay Pacific
The Cathay Pacific Credit Card earns 2 Asia Miles per $1 spent on Cathay Pacific purchases. This includes purchases made on their website as well as purchases made in-flight. This is a decent return depending on how much you value Asia Miles, but you can earn more miles than this using various Membership Rewards Credit Cards since they transfer to Asia Miles at a 1:1 ratio. This means you can use the AMEX Gold Card to earn 3 points per $1 on airfare or the AMEX Platinum Card to earns 5 points per $1 on airfare and transfer to those earned points directly to your Asia Miles account.
The Cathay Pacific Credit Card earns 1.5 Asia Miles per $1 spent on dining purchases. This includes all dining purchases meaning within and outside the United States. This can be beat by the AMEX Gold Card since it earns 4 points per $1 spent on dining worldwide. Even if you ignore the full $120 dining bonus the Gold Card has, it would still only require about $150 per month in dining spend for the Gold Card to be the winner.
1.5x Int'l Purchases
The Cathay Pacific Credit Card earns 1.5 Asia Miles per $1 spent on purchases made outside of the United States. This is an interesting category that can easily provide benefit for those looking to earn Asia Miles on miscellenous purchases made internationally. The AMEX Blue Business Plus Card earns 2 Membership Rewards Points per $1 spent but unfortunately it has a 2.7% foreign transaction fee. The only other card that can match this earning rate is the Everyday Preferred Card after you've received the 50% point bonus for making 30 transactions in a single statement.
All non-category purchases made on the Cathay Pacific Credit Card that are within the United States will earn you 1 Asia Mile per $1 spent. This is a relatively low rate of return. The only card that can get you a better return that has no foreign transaction fee is the previously mentioned Everyday Preferred Card with the 50% point boost.

Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The annual fee for the Cathay Pacific Credit Card is $95 annually. This is about the norm for most entry level cards. Since the card comes with complimentary Marco Polo Green memberhsip the first year, it could easily be worth it thanks to the free checked bags, priority boarding and other perks. The fact that this card earns 1.5 miles on all international purchases is also very useful.
Authorized User Fee
There is no authorized user fee for adding additional users to the Cathay Pacific Credit Card. If you have family or friends that shop in these categories, adding them can help you build your Asia Miles at a very fast rate.
Foreign Transaction Fee
Since the Cathay Pacific Credit Card features a bonus category on international spending, it's safe to say that the Cathay Pacific Credit Card does not have a foreign transaction fee. Again, the fact that this card earns 1.5 miles on all international purchases is not too shabby.
