The Air France-KLM Flying Blue Credit Card features one primary category and that category is purchases with airlines that are part of the SkyTeam Alliance. This consists of Air France, KLM and 18 other airlines. There is no limit to the amount of Flying Blue Miles you can earn with this card.
Using the Flying Blue Credit Card for direct purchases with airlines that are part of the SkyTeam alliance will earn 3 Flying Blug Miles per $1 spent. Airlines that fall under the SkyTeam umbrealla are:
- Aerolíneas Argentinas
- Air Europa
- Air France
- China Airlines
- China Eastern Airlines
- China Southern Airlines
- Czech Airlines
- Delta Air Lines
- Garuda Indonesia
- Kenya Airways
- Korean Air
- Middle East Airlines
- Vietnam Airlines
- Xiamen Airlines
This is a great return when it comes to purchases with these airlines as you're getting a value of about 3.6% per $1 spent at the rate of 1.2 cents per Flying Blue Mile. Add to the fact that Flying Blue Miles can be used across these airlines and you're looking at some pretty flexible points. When compared against similar reward cards that fall under Skyteam Airlines such as the Delta Gold Card, the return on points per $1 spent doesn't come close. Of course, the perks & benefits play a roll in determining the value of the card as well, so perks such as '1st Checked Bag Free' gives great value to the Delta Gold Card and can save you hundreads as well.
1.5x Non-Category Purchases
The Flying Blue Credit Card will earn 1.5 Flying Blue Miles per $1 spent on any other purchases outside of Airlines belonging to the SkyTeam Alliance. This is solid return since you'll effectvely be earning about 1.8% per $1 spent on all purchases. Most airline credit cards only offer 1 mile per $1 spent, so earning that extra 0.5 mile is great and will add up over the course of the year!

|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The annual fee for the Flying Blue Credit Card is $89. This is about the norm for entry level co-branded airline cards. Assuming you spend at least $50 on the card annually and pick up the 5,000 bonus points, you're looking at a remaining fee of $25. With the high rate of return this card offers, the $89 annual fee should easily be worth it if you're using the card for purchases with Skyteam Alliance members.
Authorized User Fee
The Flying Blue Credit Card has no authorized user fee. If you're trying to pick up some extra Flying Blue Miles, I'd recommend adding friends and family. Having them run spend through the card as authorized user will earn either 1.5 or 3 miles per dollar which will add up in no time.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The Flying Blue Credit Card has no foreign transaction fee. That makes this card a decent choice for purchases outside of the United States. Earning 1.5 Flying Blue Miles per $1 spent worldwide is not too bad!
