LATAM Visa Signature Card
If you're a frequent flyer of LATAM Airlines, the LATAM Visa Signature Credit Card will be the card you will want to have. It offers several great benefits including Multiplus point bonuses, complimentary upgrades, and discounts. There is also a watered down version of this card called the LATAM Visa Card which also can save some money when it comes to LATAM flights, but doesn't stack up to this version.
On average, Multiplus Points are easily redeemable for 1 cent each. As with most airline currency, it can be worth a lot more depending on the redemption. The Multiplus currency and LATAM Airlines are part of the Oneworld alliance meaning you can transfer these points to other airlines such as American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, and Qatar Airways. Multiplus points can be used to book award travel with LATAM, upgrade seats, and more. Multiplus points are earned based on your status with LATAM and the cost of the base fare. You can view the LATAM Oneworld Airlines Redemption Table to see how many points you need to fly between different destinations.
The LATAM Visa Signature Credit Card features one bonus category which is LATAM airfare ticket purchases. There is no limit to the amount of Multiplus Points you can earn using this LATAM credit card.
2x LATAM Airfare
Using the LATAM Visa Signature Credit Card to purchase airfare with LATAM Airlines will earn 2 Multiplus Points per $1 spent. This only applies to LATAM airfare and not other purchases with the airlines. Earning double points on LATAM airfare purchases is a return of about 2%, but it can be worth more depending on how you use the points. If you're looking to stack up your Multiplus Points, this one of the best ways to go about doing so. There are a few other reward cards that can offer a higher return on airfare purchases such as 7x Hilton Honors Points with the Hilton Honors Aspire Card or 3x Membership Reward Points with the AMEX Gold Card.
All non-LATAM airfare purchases will earn 1 Multiplus Points per $1 spent. At our easy rate of 1 cent per point, this is a low return of 1%. But if these points are worth more to you, non-category spending can be worth it if you're looking to build your points. Just be sure you have the right combination of point earning cards. Reward programs such as AMEX Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Rewards transfer to various airlines. Finding bank cards within these programs might be able to get you to award travel faster versus non-category spending on the LATAM Visa Signature.
Perks and Benefits
4,000 Bonus Points
The LATAM Visa Signature Credit Card offers 4,000 bonus points when you renew the card. This is worth about $40 which is more than half the annual fee. These points can be more valuable depending on how you redeem them. Thanks to LATAM being part of the Oneworld alliance, these points can be transferred to other popular airlines such as British Airways and American Airlines.
LATAM Visa Signature Cardmembers will receive a 20% discount on the first LATAM Airline ticket purchase of the year. There is a cap of $1,000 in savings for this discount which is earned for a $5,000 ticket purchase. This LATAM Visa Signature Card perk can save you a great deal of money and easily cover the annual fee if you purchase a $375 or higher airfare ticket.
Flight Point Bonus
LATAM Visa Signature Cardmembers will receive a 25% flight points bonus on every LATAM Airlines or affiliate carrier flights. This benefit can be renewed after spending $15,000+ each calendar year. If you fly with LATAM and their affiliates often, this can be a very valuable perk to have.
LATAM Visa Signature Cardmembers will receive three one-way LATAM Airlines upgrade coupons every year. These coupons must be used by the cardmember and will appear in their LATAM Pass account. This benefit will can be renewed annually after spending at least $15,000 each calendar year.
No Preset Spending Limit (NPSL)
The LATAM Visa Signature Card provides both a No Preset Spending Limit and a Revolve Limit that allows you to carry designated part of your balance from one statement to the next. Do note that a No Preset Spending Limit does not mean unlimited spending. Card authorizations are provided using information such as account history, credit record, income verification and liquid assets.
Several other cards offer NPSL such as the popular and iconic AMEX Gold Card and Platinum Card. This perk is also offered on several other U.S. Bank cards including their Radisson Hotel Group and Aeromexico Airline credit cards.
Sign Up Bonus
The standard LATAM Visa Signature credit card sign up bonus is 20,000 points. Minimally, this is worth $200 but could be worth more depending on how they are redeemed. Transferring to partners such as American Airlines, British Airways, or other Oneworld Alliance partners can get you some great value per point.
Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The annual fee for the LATAM Visa Signature Credit Card is $0 the first year, then $75 annually. If you spend more than $375 on your first LATAM Airfare ticket of the year, this annual fee will be covered. That perk alone can generate some big savings when it comes to flying LATAM Airlines.
Authorized User Fee
The authorized user fee for the LATAM Visa Signature Credit Card is $0. If you want to build your LATAM Pass account balance, I'd recommend adding friends and family to help. This can also assist in hitting the $15,000 spend requirements to re-qualify for both the annual flight upgrades and flight point bonus.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The LATAM Visa Signature Card has a foreign transaction fee of 3%. This means you will lose value of your points faster than you can earn them. I would recommend not putting international purchases on this card.
