Earn Tier Qualifying Points

The Chase Southwest Airlines Premier Credit Card is a great choice for anyone looking to earn a few great Southwest benefits. While not nessecarily the best card for earning Southwest Rapid Rewards Points, this card still offers key perks such as ability to earn Tier Qualifying Miles based off spend and earn anniversary points annually. If the Chase Southwest Priority Card is not your cup of tea, this is the next best thing.

Bonus Categories

The Southwest Airlines Premier Card feature three bonus categories that earn extra Rapid Rewards Points. Those categories are Southwest Airline purchases, hotels, and rental cars. There is no limit to the amount of Rapid Rewards Points you can earn spending in these categories and there's no limit to the amount of Rapid Rewards Points you can earn with the card overall

Do note that the Southwest Plus, Southwest Premier, and Southwest Priority credit cards have the same earning structure.

Perks & Benefits

The Southwest Premier Card comes with anniversary points and the ability to earn Tier Qualifying Points on spend.

  • 6,000 Anniversary Points Annually
  • Earn Tier Qualifying Points
    • Earn 1,500 Tier Qualifying Points for ever $10,000 in eligible net spend ran through the card.
    • Earn up to 15,000 Tier Qualifying Points per calendar year which is $100,000 in annual spend.
  • Travel & Purchase Coverage
    • Lost Luggage Reimbursement
    • Baggage Delay Insurance
    • Extended Warranty Protection
    • Purchase Protection

Sign Up Bonus (SUB)

The Southwest Premier Credit Card sign up bonus is 40,000 Rapid Rewards Points after spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. This is the same standard sign up bonus as the other personal Southwest credit cards.

Annual Fee

The annual fee for the Southwest Premier Credit Card is $99. The annual 6,000 bonus points should take care of most of the fee. Between that bonus and the ability to earn double Southwest points and Tier Qualifying Point based on spend, you should be able to easily justify the fee if you fly Southwest Airlines.

Authorized User Fee

The authorized user fee for the Southwest Premier Card is $0. If you're looking to accumulate extra Southwest Rapid Rewards Points, I'd recommend adding friends and family to the card.

Foreign Transaction Fee

The foreign transaction fee for the Southwest Premier Card is 0%. This means you can use the Southwest credit card worldwide and earn Rapid Rewards Points no matter where you're at without being penalized a fee for international purchases. While that's great, you'll be better off using Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards and transferring those earned points to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account.
