Flying United and Partners

United Miles are earned easiest flying United and Star Alliance partners. Like the other big airlines, you will earn miles based on your United Premier Status and how much you paid for the airfare ticket. Joining the Mileage Plus program will start you off as a Member which earns 5 miles per $1 spent. As you fly with United, you'll start to earn Premier Qualification Miles (PQMs), Segments (PQSs), and Dollars (PQDs). These qualifications determine your tier in United Premier program. Each tier comes with additional benefits such as complimentary seats & upgrades, free checked bags, international lounge access, and up to 11 miles per $1 spent. I suggest reading up on United Premier Status to learn more about PQMs, PQSs, and PQDs as well as the benefits and how to qualify for each tier.
