The United Airlines MileagePlus Club Card is a great card for anyone looking to enjoy the comfort of United Club Lounge access when flying United Airlines. Along with lounge access, card holders also receive several other perks such as status with both Hertz Rental Car and Hyatt Hotels and two free checked bags. The United Club Card also earns more points on non-category purchases which would work well for anyone who focuses on MileagePlus Miles.
The United MileagePlus Club Card features one bonus category which is United Airlines spending. There is no limit to the amount of miles you can earn with this card and there is no cap to the United Airlines bonus category.
2x United Airlines
The United Club Card earns 2 United Miles per $1 spent. United Airlines purchases includes United airline tickets (purchased directly with United), seat upgrades, in-flight food, beverages, Wi-Fi, baggage service charges and other United fees. This does not include United Cruises®, MileagePlus X, DIRECTV, and Merchandise Awards.
All non-United Airlines purchases on the United Club Card earns 1.5 United Miles per $1 spent. Non-category spending on this card is a great choice for anyone focusing on building United Miles.
Perks and Benefits
United Club Membership
The primary reason of picking up the United Club Card is for the United Club Membership the card grants. Membership costs $650 per year if you're buying it directly from United, so you'll benefit a little more from holding this card if you're looking to have access to United's lounges.
Authorized users will not receive their own United Club membership and are only eligible for United Club access if they accompany the primary cardholder and qualify as an eligible guest per United Club guest policies.
As a United Club primary cardholder, you and companions traveling on the same reservation are eligible for Premier Access. This includes designated check-in lines, priority security lanes, priority boarding, and priority baggage handling.
Authorized users will not receive this perk unless they are traveling as a companion on the same reservation as the primary cardholder. Priority perks are offered on most airline credit cards including 6 of the 7 Delta Credit Cards and most of the American Airlines AAdvantage Cards.
Free Checked Bags
When you use the United Club Card to pay for the United airfare (directly with United), you and up to one companion traveling on the same reservation will receive the first and second checked bags free (standard size bag). United normally charges $35 for the first bag and $45 for the second bag, one-way, per person. So this can save you as much as $160 per person roundtrip.
Authorized users are only eligible for free checked bags if they are on the same reservation as the primary cardholder.
Hyatt Discoverist Status
The United Club Card will grant you complimentary World of Hyatt Discoverist Status. Discoverist status comes with perks such as a free bottle of water, premium internet, room upgrades, bonus points, and more.
Hertz President's Circle
The United Club Card will grant you complimentary Hertz Gold Plus Rewards President's Circle Membership. The United Club Card Hertz benefit applies only to the primary cardholder. These perks consist of confirmed vehicle availability of Standard Equipment Economy through Full-Size 4 door vehicles, confirmed vehicle one-car-class upgrade, 25% bonus on Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® Points, and more.
Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection
The United Club Card will give you access to the Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection which offers benefits like daily breakfast for two, complimentary wifi, room upgrades (if available) and more.

The United Club Card comes with the standard Chase travel and purchase protections which includes, but is not limited to:

Sign Up Bonus
The United MileagePlus Club Card sign up bonus sits at 50,000 United Miles which can be worth $500 to $600+ depending on how much you value United Miles. During promotions this sign up bonus can be as high as 70,000-80,000 United Miles.

The annual fee for the United Club Card is $450. While the card doesn't have any annual credits, it does offer United Club Membership which costs $650 if you buy it through United. The extra United benefits such as two free checked bags and Premier Access benefits as well as the complimentary Hertz and Hyatt status also add to the value of the card.
Authorized User Fee
The United Club Card has an authorized user fee of $0. This provides a great opportunity to add family and friends to capitalize on the 1.5x earnings this card gets on non-category spending.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The foreign transaction fee for the United Club Card is 0%. This allows you to use your card worldwide without worrying about being penalized for out of country purchases.
