Capital One Miles, which consist of both Venture Miles and Spark Miles, are transferrable to 15 airline partners. The transfer ratio of these partners are either 4:3 or 2:1. Outside of promotions, the most Capital One Miles you can normally earn are 2 miles per $1 spent. This means that you would be earning, at max, 1 or 1.5 miles per $1 spent for Capital One's transfer partners. While this is a little on the low side when compared to other transferrable point programs, Capital One Miles can still be useful for topping off your favorite frequent flyer programs and can still give you some solid value.

Other Airlines

There are several Capital One transfer partners that are not part of any of the major alliances. While that may be true, these airlines still partner with specific airlines and allow you to book flights on other carriers.

Capital One Miles transfer to Emirates at a 2:1 ratio. Though Emirates is not part of an alliance, they codeshare and partner with many airlines including Alaska Airlines, Copa Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Korean Air, and more.

Etihad Airways

Most hotel reward points has an average value of less than 1 cent whereas Capital One Miles has an exact value of 1 cent when put towards travel. Using the Capital One Purchase Eraser to wipe out travel charges made to your Venture or Spark cards will generally give you a better value. The only time it will not is for bookings in which the hotel's reward currency gets a value of more than 1 cent.

Capital One vs AMEX Transfer Partners

Capital One and American Express Membership Rewards share more than 10 partners. AMEX has the favorable ratios of 1:1 for all shared partners except JetBlue which is 5:4 (still better than Capital One). AMEX has one flat rate credit card which is the Blue Business Plus. The Blue Business Plus earns 2 Membership Rewards Points per $1 spent and has no annual fee. With AMEX, this gives you 2 miles per $1 spent with no fee versus the Venture which gives 1.5 miles per $1 spent (less for Singapore, JetBlue, and Emirates) with the fee only being waived the first year.

Capital One vs Chase Transfer Partners

Capital One and Chase Ultimate Rewards has three shared transfer partners which are Singapore Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Air France-KLM. Chase transfers to all of it's partners at a 1:1 ratio giving them the favorable ratio. Chase also transfers to many U.S.-based partners including Hyatt, Southwest, IHG, and United.

Capital One vs Citi Transfer Partners

Capital One and Citi ThankYou Rewards shares 9 transfer partners. Citi, as with the other programs, has the better ratio for all shared partners. With cards like the Citi Rewards+ Card, you can generally earn miles at a faster rate as well.
