The VentureOne Card is Capital One's no-fee version of the popular Venture Card. It earns Venture Miles at a flat rate per $1 spent. Venture Miles can easily be redeemed for a value of 1 cent each towards travel, but can also be used for statement credits and cash back. Those who want to get the most out of their miles can transfer them to Capital One's 10+ transfer partners. Read on to learn more about the benefits of the Capital One VentureOne Card and to calculate its cash value to find out if it's worth your time.

Bonus Categories

The VentureOne Card normally has no bonus categories and earns at a flat rate. From now until January 2020, it features a promotional bonus category of spending with hotels.com. There is no limit to the amount of miles you can earn spending on his card and there is no cap on the amount of bonus miles you can earn with the promotion. Capital One miles does not expire as long as a Venture branded card is opened and in good standing. Below are the details of the VentureOne's flat rate earnings along with information on the promotional category.

10x Hotels.com

From now until January 31st, 2020, Capital One has a promotion of 10x Venture Miles per $1 spent on purchases through hotels.com/venture. Venture Miles are worth 1 cent each, so this is 10% return per $1 spent which is fantastic. When you transfer Venture Miles to their airline partners, you're looking at 5 to 6.6 airline miles in partner programs per $1 spent which is more than you can earn in other programs by a landslide. What makes it even better is that the VentureOne card has no annual fee meaning that spending in this promotional bonus category will always put you far ahead of the Venture Card after the second year. Do note that eligible purchases will only apply to the purchases made through the promotional link. Purchases not made through the link will not be eligible and will only receive the standard flat-rate earnings of 1.25 per $1 spent.

Book 9 nights and get the 10th free!

If you're not loyal to any specific hotel brand this promotion can be a great benefit for anyone looking to save money and earn free nights, but if you are loyal to a hotel brand, bookings through Hotels.com will probably not benefit you as much. These type of 3rd party bookings will usually not apply towards nights and points required to obtain status in most programs. Most hotel brands will also not honor your status if you do book direct as well. This means you will miss out on the ability to earn points and nights and also be denied perks and benefits if you do have status. It's also worth noting that some co-branded hotel cards earn exceptional returns and most provide an instant status. Cards like the Hilton Honors Card will grant you a superb return on Hilton spending and provide points for several additional categories. You will even gain complimentary Hilton Honors Silver status which will net you 12x points per $1 spent, two complimentary bottles of water, access to Hilton's popular 5th Night Free Perk, and more all for an annual fee of $0. You can use the calculator below to compare the two cards side-by-side Credit Card Comparison Tool to mix and match different groups of cards side by side to find the best combination for your wallet!

1.25x All Other Purchases

The VentureOne Capital One Card earns 1.25 Venture Miles per $1 spent on all purchases (exception being the current hotels.com promotion). Venture Miles are worth 1 cent each when redeemed through Capital One's Travel Portal, Purchase Eraser, or when redeemed for gift cards meaning purchases will have a return of 1.25%. This is one of the lowest earning rates Capital One has to offer out of their primary credit cards. General spend could be put on cards with a better return such as the Quicksilver Card or the Citi Double Cash Card. I would not recommend the VentureOne as being a daily driver unless your only focus is Venture Miles and even then I would consider looking at the Venture Card depending on how much you plan on spending.

Perks and Benefits

Visa Signature Perks

The VentureOne card doesn't have any special perks or benefits. It features the standard Capital One Visa Signature Benefits such as travel upgrades and savings, complimentary concierge, auto rental collision damage waiver, extended warranty, and more. View the Full Visa Signature for details of the perks.

Sign Up Bonus

The standard Capital One VentureOne Card Sign Up Bonus is 20,000 bonus miles. 20,000 Capital One miles can be redeemed for $200 towards travel purchases made on the VentureOne Card. This can be applied to hotels, rental cars, flights, and any other form of travel charged to the card which makes for very flexible redemption options. When being transfered to any of Capital One's 10+ airline transfer partners, this is worth between 10,000 miles and 13,333 miles. That's not a big amount, could be still be useful for topping off a frequent flyer account or shaving off some of the travel cost.
