The Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card is a solid choice for anyone looking to build points strictly through travel, dining, and select streaming services. It offers a minimum return of 3% for all of these purchases and can hold it's place against popular travel cards such as the AMEX Gold Card and luxury cards such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve. If you're a frequent traveler looking to earn points without all the extra bells and whistles that come with luxury travel card, you will want to give the Propel AMEX Card some consideration.

Bonus Categories

The Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Card features three bonus categories which are travel, dining, and popular streaming services. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn in any category and no limit to the amount of points you can earn using the card. Go Far Rewards do not expire as long as your account remains open and in good standing.

3x Travel

The Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Card earns 3 Go Far Rewards Points per $1 spent on travel related purchases. Travel is defined as the following by American Express:

  • Airline
  • Passenger Railway
  • Hotel and Motel
  • Timeshares
  • Vehicle and Auto Rentals
  • Cruise Lines
  • Travel Agencies
  • Discount Travel Sites
  • Campgrounds

For those who find themselves using the categories above, earning big in the travel category is important. The Wells Fargo Propel Card is up there for one of the best categories for travel purchases. The Propel Card is great for anyone who doesn't want a luxury travel card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve or U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa which both earns big on general travel purchases and provide elite travel perks.

Earn big with the Propel AMEX Card!

3x Gas Station

The Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Card earns 3 Go Far Rewards Points per $1 spent on gas. This is defined as gas stations and automated fuel dispensers. It could also possibly work at certain superstores or grocery stores that sell gas if the merchant codes their transactions under the category of 'gas' and not grocery or something else. This is a return of 3% which makes this card a solid choice for earning gas, but their are better rewards cards that earn a higher return on gas station purchases such as the PNC Cash Rewards Card.

3x Dining

Wells Fargo Propel AMEX cardholders who uses their card for dining purchases will earn 3 Go Far Rewards Points per $1 spent. Dining is considered eating places, restaurants, drinking places, and fast food restaurants. This is equal to a solid return of 3% for all dining purchases.
