The PNC Points Visa Card is a low reward card offered by PNC Bank. While it earns a good amount of points on every purchase, the value of the points are minimal and only increase in value if you have certain services with them. Even at their max of receving a 75% point bonus, it still barely beats out a 1% cash back card. If you want a real rewards card with PNC, I'd recommend you pick up the PNC Premier Traveler Card or the wonderful PNC Cash Rewards Card. In my opinion, this is one of the worst reward point earning cards covered on this site next to the Korean Air Classic Card.

PNC Point Value

PNC Points are worth about 0.25 cents each and can be used for cash back, gift cards, electronics, name-brand merchandise, travel, and more if you can build enough points to reach those redemptions. The time the card becomes decent is when you have a PNC Performance Select Checking account OR Virtual Wallet with Performance Select to give yourself up to a 75% increase in points earned per dollar. A 75% increase would bump the return up to 1.75 cents per $1 spent which is better, but you would have to be deeply invested in PNC. I personally recommend finding a different reward card that can earn a better return across the categories you spend the most on. PNC Points.

Bonus Categories

The PNC Points Visa Card offers a flat earning rate for all purchases. There is no limit to the amount of PNC Points you can earn with this card. PNC Points expire 48 months after they were added to the account and will disappear from the account at the end of the 48th month.

4x All Purchases

The PNC Points Visa Card earns an unlimited 4 PNC Points per $1 spent. While 4x points sound great, the value of PNC Points are only about 0.25 cents each meaning you're earning 1% cash back. You're better off with the PNC Cash Rewards Card which earns 4% cash back on gas, 3% back on restaurants, and 2% back on grocery. If you're looking for a flat earning rate card, you can pick up any of the million 1.5% cash back cards like the Capital One Quicksilver Card or Chase Freedom Unlimited.

Perks and Benefits

PNC Banking Bonuses

The PNC Points Visa offers additional bonus points based on certain banking services you have with PNC Bank. Even with the value of PNC Points, this is a nice perk for anyone that has the card. The Bank of America Reward Cards also provide a similar perk.

25% Bonus Points

PNC Point Visa cardholders will receive a 25% bump in points when they maintain a Virtual Wallet account. This equates to an additional 1 PNC point per $1 spent on top of the base for a total of 5 PNC points per $1 spend. This is a 1.25% return.

50% Bonus Points

PNC Point Visa cardholders will receive a 50% bump in points when they maintain a Performance Checking Account OR Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend and meet the minimum balance or direct deposit requirements. This adds an additional 2 PNC points per $1 spent for a total of 6 PNC Points per $1 spent. This PNC point bonus will offer a return of 1.50%.

75% Bonus Points

PNC Point Visa cardholders will receive a 75% bump in points when they maintain a Performance Select Checking account OR Virtual Wallet with Performance Select and meet minimum balance or direct deposit requirements. This will earn an additional 3 PNC points for a total of 7 PNC Points per $1 spent on the card. At the highest bonus you can get on the PNC Point Visa, you'll get a return of 1.75% per $1 spent which isn't bad for a no annual fee card if you can meet the requirements.

Other PNC Point Visa Features

The PNC Point Visa also feature PNC Security Assurance which provides protection from credit or identity fraud, $0 Fraud Liability in which the cardholder will not be responsible for fraudulent charges on the account, and Travel and Emergency Protection when at home or away.

Sign Up Bonus

There is no signup bonus for the PNC Points Visa, but it does offer a 0% Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months.
