PNC Premier Traveler Card Cash Value Calculator

PNC Premier Traveler Card

2x Miles Per $1

This page may contain links and/or referrals that would earn The Point Calculator points, miles, or other financial compensation. For more details, view the Advertising Policy.

The PNC Premier Traveler Card is a standard double mile card that falls a little short due to the annual fee that kicks in the second year. Similar to the Capital One Venture Card, the annual fee requires a significant amount of spend to be put through the card in order to beat the return of a simple 1.5% cash back card. Besides the fee, the PNC Premier Traveler Card is an okay choice for anyone looking to put all there spend through the card or if you're a PNC banking customer that want a rewards card to go along with your checking or savings account.

PNC Miles Value

PNC Miles are worth 1 cent each and can be redeemed as statement credit to cover travel purchases made on the Premier Traveler Card, to book travel through the PNC Reward Center, and for travel gifts. Statement credit for travel purchases must be redeemed within 90 days after the transaction posts to the account. PNC Reward Center have a minimum of 5,000 PNC Miles that must be used when booking travel-related services. PNC Miles can also be exchanged for cash back into an eligible PNC account, but this will bring the value of the miles down to 0.5 cents each. Cash Back redemptions start at 1,000 Miles (which is $5) This is the only PNC credit card that earns PNC Miles.

Bonus Categories

The PNC Premier Traveler Card earns PNC Miles at a flat rate and does not feature any bonus categories. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn using this card.

2x All Purchases

The PNC Premier Traveler Card earns 2 PNC Miles per $1 spent on all purchases. There is no cap to how many miles you can earn with this card. Double mile cards are standard in the credit card universe, but sometimes the fees they come with makes them not worth the hassle if you use other reward cards during the year as well. It will take $4,250 in spend to break even with the annual fee and roughly $16,000 in spend to break even with a 1.5% cash back card such as the Capital One Quicksilver.

Perks and Benefits

The PNC Premier Traveler Card does not have any 'specific' benefits or perks. Since it's a Visa Signature Card, it advertises the Visa Signature Perks as being the reasons to pick up the card. Below are the Visa Signature Perks featured on this card

The standard PNC Premier Traveler Card signup bonus is 30,000 PNC Miles after making $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 billing cycles following account opening. 30,000 PNC Miles is worth $300 when redeemed for travel. This is an okay sign up bonus that is worth picking up if you wish to jump into PNC's credit cards. The PNC Premier Traveler Card also features a 0% APR on balance transfers for the first 12 billing cycles when the balance is transferred within the first 90 days of obtaining the card.

Credit Card Fees

Fees
Annual Fee
Authorized User Fee
Foreign Transaction Fee

Annual Fee

The PNC Premier Traveler Card has an annual fee of $0 the first year, then $85. The card is worth it in it's first year, but once the fee kicks in the second year, you'll want to re-evaluate your spend to make sure this the best return you could be getting for your dollar. There are other cards that issue a better return on several bonus categories without an annual fee.

Authorized User Fee

The PNC Premier Traveler Card does not have an authorized user fee. If you're going to mainly be using this card, I'd recommend adding family and friends as additional cardholders in order to maximize the card earnings.

Foreign Transaction Fee

There is no foreign transaction fee for out of country charges on the PNC Premier Traveler Card which means you can earn rewards when traveling abroad without worrying about being penalized.

Recommended Cards

Citi Double Cash

The Citi Double Cash earns 2% cash back on all purchases and has no annual fee. You earn 1% cash back for the purchases and another 1% cash back for paying off the purchase. This is one of the best cash back cards on the market and great for anyone looking for a simple, no annual fee credit card.

SavorOne Card & Quicksilver

Another great card combination for building solid cash back is the Capital One SavorOne Card and Capital One Quicksilver Card. The SavorOne Card earns 3% cash back on restaurants, 3% back on entertainment, and 2% back on supermarket purchases while the Quicksilver Card earns 1.5% cash back on all other purchases. Both cards have no annual fee, no authorized user fee, and no foreign transaction fee. If you're looking to build some real cash back, this is a combo you're looking for.

AMEX & Chase

Membership Reward Points and Ultimate Rewards Points are two highly popular reward point programs. Unlike PNC Miles, the points earned in both of these programs have a extensive amount of uses. You can use them for statement credits, gift cards, and award travel directly with their respective travel portals, but the best perk is that you can transfer these points to other programs such as frequently flyer programs like Delta Airlines or United Airlines and hotel programs like Marriott Bonvoy Program and World of Hyatt. I recommend looking into these programs if you're serious about earning reward points.
