Chase Trifecta Point Calculators

Compare Chase Credit Card Combinations

Calculate how many Ultimate Rewards Points you can earn with different Chase Trifectas & combos. Compare results side by side and find the best combination.

Ultimate Rewards Points can be very valuable for those who travel. They can be redeemed directly through the Chase Travel Portal for 1.25-1.5 cents in value or be transferred to Chase's airline and hotel partners to obtain as high as 2 cents or more in value.

When it comes to earning Ultimate Rewards Points, you have a total of seven card options. First, you'll need to own at least one of the three Ultimate Rewards Points earning cards. Those cards are:

If you own at least one Ultimate Rewards Credit Card, you'll have the ability to convert cash back earned with Chase into Ultimate Rewards Points. That opens up an additional four cards you can use to earn points with which are:

This page will allow you to enter your spend and switch between several different trifectas and 2-card combos. You'll be able to compare different combinations side by side one another.

Do note that the Chase Freedom is not part of any Chase Card combination listed on this page due to the fact that the card has rotating categories and the fact that the categories for the year aren't known in advance. The Chase Freedom card has no annual fee and I highly recommend making this card part of your combination.

Chase 5/24

You will want to be well aware of the Chase 5/24 rule before you start applying for any kind of reward cards with Chase (or other banks for that matter). If you have opened more than 5 new credit card accounts within the last 24 months (2 years), you will more than likely not be approved for a Chase credit card. This includes personal Chase cards as well as personal cards opened at other banks. All Chase Ultimate Rewards and cash back credit cards listed on this page falls under the Chase 5/24 rule along with other Chase credit cards such as:

If you're not sure of how many new accounts you've opened, you can sign up for a free Credit Karma account. It will show you how many new accounts you've opened and you can use that to see if you fall under the 5/24 rule.

Trifectas & Combos

All of the combinations listed below are featured in the calculator. Remember that the Chase Freedom is not included in the combinations due to the earning structure and not knowing what categories are offered in advance. The Chase Freedom should always be part of your card combination since it has no annual fee.

Do note that the Chase Freedom Unlimited and Chase Ink Business Unlimited are basically the same card and can be swapped out for each other. Business cards do not count towards Chase's 5/24 rule so if you're high on the new-accounts side of the fence, the Ink Business Unlimited will be the better option.

Chase Trifecta 1

Cards: Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Ink Business Preferred, & Chase Freedom Unlimited

This is one of the most common combinations. It gives you the travel luxuries of the Chase Sapphire Reserve while providing a great return on internet, phone, and cable. If you spend in other business categories such as shipping and advertising, you'll benefit as well. The Chase Freedom Unlimited is used to catch all non-category purchases not covered by the Sapphire Reserve and the Ink Business Preferred.

Benefit: Chase Cards offer primary car rental insurance which can save you hundreds per year.

Chase Trifecta 2

Cards: Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Ink Business Cash, & Chase Freedom Unlimited

The is another one of the most common combinations. This combo swaps the Ink Business Preferred for the Ink Business Cash. This gives you a higher earning of 5% cash back on cable, internet, and phone spend while also providing the very nice bonus category of office supply stores (think 5% cash back/points on gift cards). This combo also takes out the redundancy of the travel category.

Chase Trifecta 3

Cards: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Business Preferred, & Chase Freedom Unlimited

This combination swaps out the Sapphire Reserve for the Sapphire Preferred in Trifecta 1. This is a great combo for those who don't want all the bells and whistles of the Sapphire Reserve Card. Do note that the extra point the Reserve earns on travel and dining purchases along with the 50% boost in points will usually put the Chase Sapphire Reserve above the Sapphire Preferred.

Chase Trifecta 4

Cards: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Business Cash, & Chase Freedom Unlimited

This combo features the Chase Ink Business Cash instead of the Chase Ink Business Preferred. This is a great combination for those who don't mind the lower earnings on travel and dining, but really want to earn 5x on the Chase Ink Business Cash categories. If you're looking to maximize your spend at Office Supply Stores and don't need/want the Sapphire Reserve, this is a great trifecta to have.

Chase 2-Card Combos

If you're only looking to pair two Chase Cards together (three if you count the Chase Freedom Card), you'll want to pair an Ultimate Rewards Card with the Chase Freedom Unlimited or the Chase Ink Business Unlimited.

  • Combo 1: Chase Sapphire Reserve + Freedom/Business Unlimited
  • Combo 2: Chase Sapphire Preferred + Freedom/Business Unlimited
  • Combo 3: Chase Ink Business Preferred + Freedom/Business Unlimited

All of these credit card combinations are great for making sure you earn no less than 1.5 Ultimate Rewards Points per $1 spent on non-category/miscellenous purchases. Again, don't forget to add the no annual fee Chase Freedom card to these combos if you can!
