Ink Business Cash Card
Calculate how much cash back you can earn and the cash value of the Chase Ink Business Cash Card based on monthly/yearly spend, benefits, and fees.
The Chase Ink Business Cash Card is loaded with great bonus categories that benefit just about any type of business. Office supply stores, internet services, phone services, and gas stations is just a few of the bonus categories that will net you extra cash back. And to make matters better, if you have an Ultimate Rewards Point earning card such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Ink Business Preferred, you can earn points instead of cash back. Ultimate Rewards Points has a lot of redemption options including statement credit, gift cards, and being transfer to over 10+ transfer partners including United Airlines and Marriott Bonvoy.
The Chase Ink Business Cash Card features six categories that earns bonus cash back or Ultimate Rewards Points. Those categories are internet services, cable services, phone services, office supply stores, restaurants, and gas stations. There is a combined spending cap on the 5% cash back categories of $25,000 each year. After spending that amount, the 5% cash back categories will only earn 1% cash back per $1 spent. The 2% cash back categories also has a cap of $25,000. After you reach that cap, you will earn 1% cash back per $1 spent for the remainder of the year. Below are the details of each bonus category.
5% Internet, Cable, Phone Services
The Chase Ink Business Cash Card offers 5% cash back per $1 spent on internet, cable, and phone services. Chase pairs these categories into one and considers these to include purchases for internet, cable, satellite television, radio, cellular, wireless data, and landline services. Purchases of equipment is not included in this bonus category.
A return of 5% on these categories for a card with no annual fee is superb. This can't be beat when it comes to cash back credit cards. In terms of Ultimate Rewards Points, you're looking at a 5x earning across these purchases. Since UR points are worth either 1.25 cents or 1.50 cents based on which point earning Chase card you have, you're looking at a 6.25% to 7.5% return which is hard to beat. That's even better than the Chase Ink Business Preferred Card which earns 3x Ultimate Rewards Points on internet, cable, and phone services, though it does have a higher combined spend cap along with a few additional bonus categories including travel, shipping, and advertising.
5% Office Supply Stores
Using the Chase Ink Business Cash Card at office supply stores will earn 5% cash back per $1 spent. Chase defines these merchants as business that specialize in selling a variety of office supplies, from larger office supply stores to smaller stationary stores. This will include places such as Office Max, Office Depot, and Staples.
Earning 5% cash back on office supply stores is one of the best returns in the credit card world. As with the previous bonus category, when converted to Ultimate Rewards Points you're looking at a better return of 6.25% to 7.5% when used on towards travel on the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal.
The Chase Ink Business Cash Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent at restaurants. Chase considers restaurants to be merchants whose primary business is sit-down or eat-in dining, including fast food restaurants as well as fine dining establishments.
When it comes to straight cash back, 2% is one of the best rates you can get. If you looking in terms of Ultimate Rewards Points, you will be bringing in a 2.5% to 3% return. The best returns for business cards in this category will come from hotel loyalty cards. The Marriott Bonvoy Premier Plus Business Card, Marriott Bonvoy Business Card and Hilton Honors Business Card. These cards offer returns of 2.8% and higher along with hotel perks and benefits such as Marriott Silver and Hilton Gold status.
2% Gas Stations
Gas station purchases on the Chase Ink Business Cash Card will earn 2% cash per $1 spent. This is defined by Chase as merchants that specialize in the selling of gasoline. Places such as Hess, Speedway, Mobil, and BP will fall under this category.
Earning 2% back on gas stations isn't bad, but it can be outdone by the Bank of America Business AAdvantage Cash Rewards in which you can earn between 3% and 3.75% depending on your relationship ship with them. The AMEX Business Rewards Gold Card also offers a good return if you choose gas as your 3x bonus category. This will get you a minimum of a 3% return, but but can be worth a lot more when you transfer Membership Reward Points to any of their 19 travel partner.
All purchases on the Chase Ink Business Cash Card outside of the categories listed above will earn 1% cash back per $1 spent. If you're looking to maximize cash back or Ultimate Rewards Points with Chase, you will want to put these purchases on the no annual fee Chase Freedom Unlimited Card. The Freedom Unlimited will ensure that you never make less than a 1.5% return.
