AMEX Hilton Business Card
The Hilton Honors Business Card Point Calculator will calculate total points and the cash value of the card based on monthly/yearly spend, card benefits, and the annual fee. You can compare the results side by side against any card based on the same (or different) spend.
The AMEX Hilton Honors Business Card is one of the best when it comes to building points for hotel stays. It's jam packed with bonus categories that focus on travel and general business expenses. On top of that, the Hilton Honors Business Card also offers a great deal of perks when staying at Hilton Hotels.
The Hilton Honors Business Card features eight bonus categories that focuses on business expenses and travel. The bonus categories are: Hilton Properties, gas stations, wireless telephone providers, shipping, restaurants, car rentals, and flights booked directly with the airline or through the American Express travel site. Below are the details on each Hilton Honors Business Card bonus category.
12x Hilton Properties
As with the Hilton Surpass Card, the Hilton Business Card earns 12 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent at Hilton Properties. This spending must be done directly with Hilton. Prepaid bookings with third parties will not count towards this bonus category. If not paid prepaid through Hilton directly, bonus points can also be obtained when the card is used at check-out.
The 12 point per $1 earning on Hilton Properties is matched by the Hilton Surpass Card and is out shined by the luxury card, The Hilton Aspire Card. This card comes with Hilton Gold Status which earning you an additional 18 points per $1 spent, so you'll be looking at a total of 30x Hilton Honors Points when staying at Hilton Properties. That's about an 18% return which is fantastic!
6x U.S. Gas Stations
The Hilton Honors Business Card earns 6 Hilton Honors Points when used at U.S. gas stations. This bonus will only apply to place whose primary business is to sell gasoline. You will not earn the 6x bonus on places such as GetGo and Walmart Gas Stations since they are not usually coded as gas. You will earn Hilton Honors Bonus points on places such as Exxon, Hess, and BP gas stations.
This a great return on gas station purchases that is matched by the Hilton Honors Surpass Card. If you're looking to earn Hilton Honors Points on gas purchases, besides earning an additional point with the Hilton Aspire Card, this is one of the best ways to do such.
6x U.S. Wireless Telephone Providers
6 Hilton Honors Points can be earned when the Hilton Honors Business Card is used on purchases with U.S. wireless telephone providers. This will include phone services through companies such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Authorized sellers or resellers, bundled packages (such as AT&T U-Verse), and purchases from superstores and electronic stores (such as Best Buy, Walmart) will not be eligible to receive this bonus. Also, purchases for hardware, repair services, and VoIP services aren't included. This bonus category primary focuses on the wireless phone bill.
Besides the Hilton Surpass Card, the only other card that offers a solid return on wireless telephone providers is the AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business Card which offers 4x Marriott Bonvoy Points. Marriott Bonvoy Points are worth about 0.7 cents each which puts it close to the Hilton Business Card in terms of return.
6x U.S. Shipping
Purchases with U.S. shipping companies made with the Hilton Honors Business Card will earn 6 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent. This will include services purchased at places along the lines of FedEx, UPS, and the United States Postal Services (USPS). This bonus category does not apply to shipping costs for online purchases.
If you're looking for a similar return, the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Premier Plus Business Card and AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business Card both offer 4x Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent. They also both come with Marriott Silver Elite Status which offers solid perks such as 10% Marriott Bonvoy Points bonus, priority late checkout, and a dedicated elite reservation line.
6x U.S. Restaurants
The Hilton Honors Business Card earns 6 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent at U.S. restaurants. This Hilton bonus will only apply to U.S. restaurants that are in the United States. This will not apply to restaurants outside of the United States even if they are owned by a U.S. company (such as Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam).
This is a good return for anyone looking to earn Hilton Honors Points while eating out. Restaurants is common category in the hotel credit card world being features on several cards including personal cards such as the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card (2x Hyatt Points) and Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier Card (2x IHG Points) and on business cards such as the Chase Marriott Premier Plus Business Credit Card (4x Marriott Bonvoy Points) and AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business Card (4x Marriott Bonvoy Points).
6x Car Rentals
Car rentals paid for with the Hilton Honors Business Card will earn 6x Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent. American Express will only grant the 6x Hilton bonus to the following car rental companies:
Other business credit cards that offer bonus points on car rental companies consist of both the Barclay AAdvantage Aviator Business Card and CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select which earns double AAdvantage Miles worth about 1.4 cents each, and the Chase Southwest Airline Business Premier Card which earns double Rapid Reward Points with select car rental companies.
6x Airfare Booked Direct
Airfare booked directly with an airline using the Hilton Honors Business Card will earn 6 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent. This Hilton bonus will only apply to scheduled flights on a passenger carrier which includes airlines such as Delta, JetBlue, and British Airways. Charter flights, private jet flights, third-party bookings (American Express Travel Site excluded), and flights booked as part of a vacation package will not earn the 6x Hilton point bonus.
Earning 6x bonus points is about the best earning you can get for Hilton unless you have the Hilton Aspire Card which earns 7x Hilton Honors Points on airfare. Hilton Honors is a hotel partner of American Express. Membership Reward Points transfer to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio meaning 1 Membership Reward Point is worth 2 Hilton Honors Points. The AMEX Business Rewards Gold can earn up to 3x Membership Reward Points per $1 spent which puts you at the same earning rate of 6x Hilton Honors Points when transferred.
6x Airfare Booked w/ AMEX Travel
Airfare purchased through the American Express Travel website will also earn 6 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent. This is similar to booking directly, only through American Express which may or may not have slightly different prices. If you enter in your loyalty account number with the airline, it will usually push over to your account there as well. There's no real advantage to booking through AMEX travel with the exception of saving money through AMEX offers as they occasionally offer a certain amount off after a threshold has been spent through their site. AMEX travel can also be good when looking around and comparing airfare cost as they sometimes will have lower or similar deals with partners such as Delta Airlines.
3x Non-Category Spending
Any spending outside of the categories listed above will earn 3 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent. At 0.6 cents each per Hilton Honors Points, this is return of at least 1.8%. This can be beat by any 2% cash back card such as the Citi Double Cash Card, but if you're looking to earn Hilton Honors Points, 3x points on miscellaneous purchases is a pretty solid deal.
