Marriott Bonvoy Bold
Review the benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold, calculate how many points you can earn based on spend, and compare results side-by-side top rewards cards.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bold is the no annual fee card in the Marriott Bonvoy family of credit cards. The card itself offers a small return on Marriott spend and grants Silver Elite status with Marriott. It's an option for those looking to downgrade their curreny Chase Marriott Cards to avoid paying annual fees. Anyone that plan on staying at Marriott a few times a year will want to take a step up to the Marriott Boundless Card.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card features one bonus category which is spending done at Marriott Hotels. There is no limit to the amount of bonus points you can earn spending in this category and no limit to the amount of points you can earn with the card overall.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card earns 3 points per $1 spent at Marriott Hotels. This is the only Marriott Card that earns a low return as the other six Marriott Cards earn 6 points per $1 spent. With Marriott Points being worth 0.7 cents each on average, you're looking at about 2.1% return when using this card. That's not bad, but you can do better with other no-fee cards such as the 3% cash back on hotels with the Barclays Uber Card and 3% return with the Wells Fargo Propel Card.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card earns 2 points per $1 on all non-Marriott purchases. This is equal to an average return of 1.4% per $1 spent which is relatively low, but is the highest amount of Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn on non-category spend. If you're looking for a better return in general, you can pick up a 2% or higher cash back card like the 2% cash back Paypal CashBack Mastercard or 3% cash back Alliant CashBack Visa.
