Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card
Review the perks and benefits of the Marriott Boundless Card and calculate how many Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn based on your monthly/yearly spend.
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card, previously known as the Marriott Bonvoy Premier Plus Credit Card, is the entry level rewards card for earning Marriott Bonvoy Points and features a few additional perks thanks to the Marriott Elite Silver Status it offers. It's a great card for anyone looking to earn additional Marriott Points strictly off of Marriott spend.
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card features a single bonus category which is spending at Marriott hotels. There is no limit to the amount of bonus points you can earn spending in this category and no limit to the amount of points you can earn running spend through the card.
6x Marriott Properties
Using the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card at Marriott Properties will earn you 6 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent. This category can be for hotel stays or purchases made at on-site properties that are owned by Marriott or ring up as a hotel charge related to Marriott.
Earning 6x on Marriott spend is the best you can obtain and is the standard earning rate across all available Marriott credit cards except the Marriott Bold card.
All non-Marriott purchases on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card will earn you 2 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent. If you're looking to maximize your earning on Marriott spend, this is the best you will get with Marriott credit cards and Marriott's transfer partners. Depending on how much you value Marriott Bonvoy Points, running non-category spend through Marriott's credit cards could be worth it.
Perks and Benefits
Annual Free Award Night
Every year on your Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card anniversary, you will receive a free night award good for any hotel that costs up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points. This can get you into as high as a category 5 hotel under both the standard and off-peak rates. You can stack free nights earned from other Marriott Credit Cards. In my opinion, this benefit alone is worth picking up the card as you can easily get more than $95 in value from this perk.
15 Elite Night Credits
You will receive 15 Elite Night Credits every calendar year as a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card member. These 15 credits can only stack with credits earned by holding a Marriott Business Card such as the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card. You cannot stack with other personal credit cards. With a Marriott personal card and Marriott business card, you can earn up to 30 Elite Night Credits every calendar year.
Marriott Elite Status
Thanks to the 15 Elite Night Credits this card comes with, you'll receive complimentary Marriott Silver Elite status. Silver Elite status is normally earned after you reach 10 nights staying at Marriott brand hotels. All of the available Marriott credit cards offer at least Silver status. Marriott Silver Elite status comes with 10% bonus points, late checkout, and few other small, but useful perks.
You can spend your way to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status by running $35,000 in spend through this card during the calendar year.
As a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card member, you will receive free in-room, premium Internet access while staying at participating Marriott properties.
Chase/VISA Card Benefits
You'll receive a handful of useful Chase and VISA benefits as a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card member. Those benefits include:
- Lost Luggage Reimbursement
- Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
- Trip Delay Reimbursement
- Travel and Emergency Assistance Services
- Purchase Protection
- Extended Warranty Protection
Sign Up Bonus
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card standard sign up bonus is 75,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months of account opening. The cash value of 75,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points is about $525 if you value points at the average of 0.7 cents each.
In terms of free nights, this is worth up to 15 nights at a Category 1 during off-peak season or one night at a Category 7 or 8. You can also redeem Marriott Bonvoy Points for several other awards outside of hotels including gift cards ($248-$300), shopping through their online portals ($180-$263), and booking airfare or rental cars on their website ($300).
Lastly, you can transfer Marriott Bonvoy Points to over 40 different airline frequent flyer programs in which most will give you 30,000 miles in the receiving airline program if you transfer the full 75,000 points thanks to the 15,000 point bonus you'll earn for every 60,000 miles transferred. Most of Marriott's transfer partners are 3:1.
Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The annual fee for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card is $95. The free night it provides should be more than enough to justify the annual fee assuming you're getting this card because you stay at Marriott Hotels. The free night puts you in the category 4 to category 5 hotel range and these hotels usually cost a great deal more than $95 a night.
Authorized User Fee
The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card does not charge a fee to add authorized users. Any users added to this card will be able to assist in building up your Marriott Bonvoy Points, but unless they plan on staying at Marriott hotels, they will only be earning a non-bonus rate of 2x points which can be placed on a different card if you're looking for a higher return.
Foreign Transaction Fee
There is no foreign transaction fee for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card. This means you can earn Marriott Bonvoy Points worldwide without being penalized for spending outside of the United States.
