Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card
Review the benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Card and calculate how many Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn based on your monthly/yearly spend.
The Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card, previously known as the American Express Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Credit Card, is a Marriott Bonvoy Points earning card offered by American Express. This card is no longer available for sign up as of February 13th, 2019. The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card is now the primary personal card for earning Marriott Bonvoy Points. The Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card mirrors the perks of the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card.
The Marriott Bonvoy AMEX Card only features one bonus category and that is for spending on Marriott properties. There is no limit to the amount of bonus points you can earn spending in this category and there is no limit to the amount of points you can earn spending on the card.
The Marriott Bonvoy AMEX Card earns 6 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent with Marriott. This includes paying for your room as well as charges on property grounds that may categorize as Marriott such as room charges or bars and restaurants owned by Marriott.
The majority of Marriott's credit cards earn 6x points on Marriott spend. This is the highest amount of Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn spending on Marriott and transfer partner credit cards.
All non-Marriott purchases made on the Marriott Bonvoy AMEX Card will earn you 2 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent. This is the norm across most of Marriott's credit cards and is the highest amount of Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn on non-category spend. You can earn an equal amount of points using the AMEX Blue Business Plus Card to earn 2x Membership Rewards Points and then transferring those points to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio.
