The Marriott Bonvoy Business Card is a great choice for any business that mainly deals with Marriott hotels or for anyone that wants to earn additional Marriott Bonvoy Points on categories outside of Marriott. This business card also offers Marriott Bonvoy Status, Elite nights towards obtaining a higher status, and an annual free night award.
The Marriott Bonvoy Business Card features five bonus categories which are Marriott properties, U.S. restaurants, U.S. wireless phone services, U.S. gas stations, and U.S. shipping. There's no limit to the amount of bonus Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn spending in these categories and no limit to the amount of Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn with the card overall.
The Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card will earn you 6 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent at Marriott. This includes paying for your room at a Marriott brand hotel as well as various charges at the hotel that made categorize as a Marriott purchase.
The majority of Marriott's credit cards earn at the 6x rate. This is the most Bonvoy Points you can earn spending at Marriott hotels.
4x U.S. Restaurants
You will earn 4 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent on restaurant purchases in the U.S. with the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card. These purchases include fast food and fine dining establishments located in the United States.
This is the highest amount of Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn with available Marriott credit cards. You can earn the same 4x points using the AMEX Gold Card by transferring Membership Rewards Points to your Marriott Bonvoy account. The AMEX Gold earns 4x on restaurants worldwide, so it is the better choice for international travel if you don't have the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Premier Plus Business Card which is unavailable to new applicants.
4x U.S. Wireless Phone Services
U.S. wireless phone services paid for with the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card will earn you 4 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent. AMEX counts telephone service providers as purchases made with, but not limited, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Purchases from authorized resellers, bundled packages (such as AT&T U-Verse), purchases from Superstores (Walmart, Target), and purchases from Electronic Stores (Best Buy, Staples) will not be eligible for this bonus category. VoIP services is also not included.
If you're looking to earn a tad bit more, the Chase Ink Business Cash Card earns 5% back on phone services which can be converted to Ultimate Rewards Points (if you have an Ultimate Rewards Points credit card) and then converted to Marriott Bonvoy Point.
4x U.S. Gas Stations
Purchases made at U.S. gas stations using the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card will earn you 4 points per $1 spent. AMEX defines gas stations as merchants that is in the primary business of selling gasoline to consumers. Examples include Exxon, Shell, and Gulf. Gas stations that are part of supermarkets or warehouse clubs will not earn bonus points which are places such as Giant Eagle's GetGo (this sometimes triggers as grocery with AMEX) and Walmart Gas Stations.
This is the most Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn on gas station spend between Marriott and transfer partner credit cards. You can earn the same return with the American Express Business Gold, but the card features a cap on it's two 4x categories.
4x U.S. Shipping
You'll earn 4 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent on the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card when you use it to pay for shipping services in the United States. Earning on this category is only for U.S. courier, postal, and freight shipping services which includes, but is not limited to, businesses such as FedEx, UPS, and the United State Postal Service (USPS). This will not apply to shipping costs for online purchases.
This is the most Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn on U.S. shipping spend. You can earn an equal amount of points with the American Express Business Gold, but it has a cap on the category.
All non-category spending on the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card will earn you 2 Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent. This is the same earning rate featured on most of Marriott credit cards and is the highest amount of Marriott Bonvoy Points you can earn on non-category spend. If you're looking to maximize your earnings with Marriott, running spend across this card is the way to go. You can also earn the same return using the Blue Business Plus Card which earns 2 Membership Rewards Points per $1 spent on the first $50,000 in purchases made during the calendar year.

The Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card comes with a nice bit of benefits. This includes up to two annual free nights, elite night credits, and complimentary elite status.
Annual Free Award Night
Every year on your Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card anniversary, you'll receive a certificate for a free night award. The free night award is good for a free one-night stay at any Marriott hotel that costs up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points. That can get you in as high as a category 5 hotel under both the standard and off-peak rates. Free nights can be stacked with the free nights earned on other Marriott credit cards.
Second Annual Free Award Night
You can earn a second free night award when you spend $60,000 on the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card during the calendar year. The free night award is good for a free one-night stay at any Marriott hotel that costs up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points just the one offered on the card annually.
15 Elite Nights
You'll receive 15 elite night credits every calendar year that will apply towards your elite status with Marriott as a Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card member. You can earn 15 elite nights with a business Marriott Card (such as this one) and 15 elite nights with a personal Marriott Card for a total of 30 elite night credits which would give you Marriott Gold Elite Status.
Marriott Elite Status
Thanks to the 15 elite night credits offered on the Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card, you'll receive complimentary Marriott Silver Elite Status. Silver comes with a 10% Marriott Bonvoy Points bonus, priority late checkout, and a few other small perks.
Spending $30,000 on the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card will grant Marriott Gold Elite Status. Gold status bumps up the point bonus to 25% along with providing perks such as a 25% point bonus, room upgrades, 2pm late checkout, and more.
You'll receive complimentary premium in-room WiFi as a Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card member.

Sign Up Bonus
The Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX Card standard sign up bonus is 75,000 bonus points after $3,000 in spend within 3 months. The cash value of this sign up bonus will vary, but you should be able to easily squeeze at least $525 out of it at 0.7 cents per Marriott Bonvoy Point.
In terms of free nights, this can earn you as many as 15 nights during off-peak season at a Category 1 hotel and at least 1 night at the highest Category 8 hotel during off-peak season. Of course, if you book 4 consecutive award nights, you'll get the 5th night free so you can earn even more nights.
Marriott Bonvoy Points can also be transferred to over 40+ frequent flyer programs in which most of the airline partners transfer at a rate of 3-to-1 giving you 25,000 airline miles. You'll also receive a bonus 15,000 Bonvoy Points for every 60,000 Bonvoy Points you transfer which will give you an additional 5,000 airline miles.

The annual fee for the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card is $125. If you're able to get good value out of the free night and use the bonus categories on this card, it can easily be worth the fee. The free night at a 35,000 point per night hotel puts you in the Category 4-5 range and features hotels that are usually more than $125 per night.
Authorized User Fee
The Marriott Bonvoy Business Card does not have an authorized user fee. You can add as many additional users / employees as you want and they will be able to assist in building Marriott Bonvoy Points spending in the bonus categories the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card has.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The Marriott Bonvoy Business Card does not charge a foreign transaction fee. Any spending done outside of the U.S. will usually earn the non-bonus category rate of 2x Marriott Bonvoy Points per $1 spent since all the categories are specific to U.S. transactions.
