Electronics and major appliances can be very costly, so earning a good return on these types of purchases can really rake in some solid cash back. The Best Buy Rewards Credit Card is one of the best electronic retail store cards in the market since it offers an excellent return on big ticket items. Cardholders will also be able to earn additional rewards on dining and occasionally other categories during promotions as well as be eligible for special promotion financing. Elite members will earn even more points per $1 spent when using the Best Buy Credit Card.

Best Buy Rewards Points

Best Buy Rewards Points are worth 2 cents each and can be applied to Best Buy purchases in-store and online in the form of a certificate. These points can be redeemed in increments of 250 points for a $5 certificate. These redemptions can be set to auto-redeem at a value of your choosing or you can let the points add up and request a certificate when you're ready to use the points. Do note that these Best Buy reward certificates do expire and that you should only request a certificate if you plan on using it relatively soon.

Bonus Categories

The Best Buy Rewards Credit Card features two bonus categories which are Best Buy purchases and dining categories. Occasionally, Best Buy will add other bonus categories as promotional categories to provide a chance to earn more reward points. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn in these categories and there is no limit to the amount of Best Buy Rewards Points you can earn with the Best Buy Credit Card. Below are the details on each bonus category.

2.5x Best Buy

Best Buy purchases in-store or online with the Best Buy Credit Card will earn you 2 Best Buy Rewards Points per $1 spent. This is a return of 5% which easily makes this the best card for Best Buy purchases. Considering you can easily spend upwards of $500 or more in Best Buy, you're looking at some serious cash back. Stack that on top of being an Elite or ElitePlus member and you can really start to see the savings add up. While some cards may come close with promotions such as the Double Membership Rewards Points promo American Express seems to toss out a few times a year, nothing will quite reach the return of the Best Buy Credit Card or Best Buy Store Card.

1x Dining

Restaurant purchases with the Best Buy Credit Card will earn 1.5 Best Buy Rewards Points per $1 spent. This is equal to a return of 2% which is okay, but there are a great deal of cards that earn a substancially better rate such as the Barclay Uber Card which earns 4% cash back, features 9 additional bonus categories, and has no annual, authorized user, or foreign transaction fee. The Capital One Savor One Card and PNC Cash Rewards Card are also two good choices as they both offer 3% cash back on restaurants and 2% cash back on grocery spending along with other bonus categories. Both cards also have no annual fee. These cards will earn you a higher rate of return and thus earn you cash back at a faster rate than the Best Buy Credit Card when it comes to dining out.

0.5x Non-Category

All non-category purchases on the Best Buy Credit Card will earn 0.5 Best Buy Rewards Points per $1 spent. This is a very low 1% return which can be better placed on a 1.5% or 2% cash back card such as the Capital One Quicksilver or Citi Double Cash Card. You can take it another notch and get the Alliant CashBack Visa Signarure which earns 3% cash back on all purchases the first year and has a waived annual fee the first year as well!

Perks and Benefits

Outside of earning additional Best Buy Rewards Points, the only additional benefit is the ability for Best Buy special financing.

Special Financing

Best Buy Credit Card holders will receive flexible financing options on purchases that are $199 and up. Do note that if you choose to receive financing, you will not earn the 2.5x (5% back) bonus. You will have to choose between one or the other. Along with the ability to receive flexible financing, cardholders will also receive fiancing promotions for various items such as major appliances and various electronics from time to time. These promotions will have the details and length of financing usually spelled out on the promotion itself.

Sign Up Bonus

The Best Buy Credit Card sign up bonus is 10% back in rewards on your first day of purchases, or choose flexible financing, when you are approved for the My Best Buy® Credit Card. This can be very beneficial if you're preparing to make a big ticket purchase and want to save some money.
