Get the details on BJ's Wholesale Club membership options and calculate how much you can earn with Inner Circle Membership and with BJ's credit cards.
BJ's Wholesale Club is an American membership-only warehouse club chain. They have over 200 locations with the majority of them being in states along the East Coast stretching from Maine to Florida. They also have stores in Ohio and Michigan. BJ's is headquartered out of Westborough, MA and currently competes with Costco and Walmart's Sam's Club.
BJ's Membership & Rewards Calculators
Rewards with BJ's can be earned through BJ's top membership of BJ's Perks Rewards and by using one of BJ's co-branded credit cards. You'll either earn cash back with BJ's as a BJ's Perks Rewards member or you'll earn cash back when you use a BJ's credit card to make purchases in-store and online with BJ's. Since the BJ's credit cards earning rates are based on your BJ's membership, you'll still end up earning more with BJ's Perks Rewards membership. So in the end, this is no different in earnings from Sam's Club Plus membership or Costco Executive membership.
BJ's Personal Membership
There's three types of main membership you can obtain with BJ's: BJ's Perks Rewards, BJ's Inner Circle, and BJ's Online Access.
BJ's Online Access
BJ's Online Access is the lowest membership which will cost you $10 per year for one primary membership. This membership allows you to shop online at BJs.com. You will not have full access to all of BJ's member services with this membership (such as the Optical Department, parts of BJ's travel) and will not have access to shop in-store at BJ's Wholesale Club locations.
BJ's Inner Circle
BJ's Inner Circle program is the middle tier and will cost you $55 per year. It offers a primary member and a second household card-holding member full access to BJ's member services which includes, but is not limited to:
- Same-Day Delivery
- BJ's & Manufacturers' Coupons
- BJ's Gas Prices
- Full BJs.com Access
- BJ's Optical
- BJ's Tire Center
- BJ's Travel
BJ's Perks Rewards
BJ's Perks Rewards is the highest membership you can have with BJ's and it costs $110 per year. It offers all of the perks of being a BJ's Inner Circle member along with the ability to earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases made in-store or online with BJ's.
Is BJ's Perks Rewards Worth It?
The different in annual price between BJ's Inner Circle and BJ's Perks Rewards is $55 per year. As a BJ's Perks Rewards member, you'll be able to earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases. It will take $2,750 in annual spend (or around $230 per month) to earn $55 in BJ's cash back. So if you spend more than that per year/month, the BJ's Perks Rewards membership will be the better option. Remember that as a BJ's Perks Rewards member you may receive extra coupons, promotions, and benefits over that of a Inner Circle member. You'll want to factor that into your decision as well.
Earning Cash Back w/ Perk Rewards Membership
As a BJ's Perks Rewards member, you'll earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases made with BJ's unless you're a BJ's credit card holder in which you'll earn rewards in accordance with the rewards the credit card offers.
Eligible purchases include purchases made at BJ's Club front-end registers and on BJs.com. Purchases that do not qualify for earning 2% cash back includes (pulled from terms & conditions):
- Purchases of Exempted Items Restricted by Law or Regulation
- Sales Taxes
- Bottle Deposits
- Alcoholic Beverages
- Cigarettes or Tobacco-related Products
- Lottery Tickets
- Gift Cards
- BJ’s Member Services
- BJ's Auto Buying Program
- Cellular Phone Services
- BJ's Optical Department
- BJ's Travel
- Other Purchases No Through BJs.com, BJ's front-end registers, or at Member Services Desk
These are your typical exclusions for the most part. Do note the part about you not being able to earn on BJ's Member Services.
BJ's Perks Rewards Earnings Calculator
You can use the BJ's Perks Rewards calculator below to estimate how much you can earn on eligible purchases made in-store and online with BJ's. Enter how much you spend at BJ's per month and let the calculator do the calculating. Remember that you must be a BJ's Perks Rewards member to earn at the 2% rate and that you can only earn $500 in rewards during a 12-month period.

Redeem BJ's Cash Back
BJ's rewards are redeemed on a "first in, first out" basis, such that your first Award earned will be the first redeemed. You may not exceed $500 in awards during a 12-month period which obtained by spending $25,000 during a year or around $2,084 per month with BJ's.
Cash back is issued in the form of digital awards that are given to you in $20 increments when your BJ's Perks Rewards balance hits $20. These are usually offered 2-3 days after you have hit the $20 threshold. You can also request cash back in the form of a check prior to award expiring by contacting BJ's Member Care (800-BJS-CLUB). If you redeem awards online, do note that rewards that go beyond the cost of the transaction will not be credited back to you. If you use a $20 reward for a $15 purchase, you will have wasted $5. So be sure to use your award properly.
Awards expire six months from date issued so you'll want to make sure you're using them in a timely manner.
BJ's Credit Cardholders
BJ's has two variations of their credit card that is based on your BJ's membership level. BJ's Inner Circle members will be given the BJ's Perks Plus Mastercard which earns 3% cash back on eligible BJ's purchases while BJ's Perks Rewards members will be given the BJ's Perks Elite Mastercard which earns 5% cash back on eligible BJ's purchases. As you can see, you'll still earn 2% additional cash back with a Perks Rewards membership versus a Inner Circle membership.
Redemption of rewards earned with BJ's credit cards operate no differently than non-cardholders.
Credit Card Rewards Calculators
BJ's offers a Comenity Capital Bank Mastercard that comes in two versions based on your membership with BJ's. The only difference between both cards is the earnings on BJ's spend in which you'll earn 5% cash back as a Perks Rewards member or 3% cash back as an Inner Circle member. The remaining card perks consist of savings at BJ's Gas Stations and additional cash back at non-BJ's gas stations and dining out. The card also offers promotional credit plans for large purchases.
You can click on a BJ's credit card below to learn about the bonus categories, perks & benefits, standard sign up bonus, and fees of the card. Each BJ's credit card also has it's own BJ's Rewards cash back calculator. The calculator will calculate how much cash back you can earn and the cash value of the credit card based on your monthly/yearly spend, how much each card benefit is worth to you, and the fees of the card. You can compare the results side by side any credit card featured on the site. Any spend you enter into the credit card calculator will carry over to all credit card calculators on the site, so there's no need to re-enter spend when jumping page to page.
Comparison Calculators features side by side comparisons of frequently compared credit cards or comparisons requested through our YouTube channel. These calculators are already set up so you can immediately start calculating total rewards as well as the cash value of the compared cards based on your monthly/yearly spend, how much the card benefits are worth to you, and the annual fees. Comparison Calculators does not allow you to change the designated cards being compared. If you want to compare credit cards outside of the comparisons listed below, I recommend searching for the credit card you want to compare and then using its calculator to compare it against anything featured on the site.
Online Portals + BJs.com
If you want to maximize your earnings spending at BJs.com, you should heavily consider using online cash back and shopping portals. This is how they work:
- You find the store on the online portal of your choosing
- Click on that portal's affiliate link for that store
- You'll land on the store's normal home page to shop as normal
- Once you make a purchase, the shopping portal will be notified
- You'll earn cash back (or other rewards) with that online portal
Online cash back and shopping portals are free to use and it makes it extremely easy to double and triple dip on rewards. You'll still earn your 2% cash back as a BJ's Perks Rewards member or 3%-5% as a BJ's Mastercard holder, but you'll also earn additional cash back, points, or miles on top of that with the online portal.
BJ's is featured on the following portals:
