Banana Republic Luxe Card
When you earn 5,000 points with the Banana Republic Credit Card, you'll receive the Luxe version. Learn the benefits, calculate rewards points, and compare!
In order to obtain the coveted Banana Republic Luxe Visa Card, you'll need to earn 5,000 points during the calendar year with the Banana Republic Credit Card. The easiest and most efficient way to do that is by spending $1,000 at Gap brand stores over the course of the year. Luxe status comes with several useful additional benefits which includes bonus points, free shipping, and more. If you typically spend a lot at Gap brand stores, you'll want to aim for Luxe status as it can save you money and earn you rewards faster.
The Banana Republic Luxe Card features one bonus category that earns bonus points which is Gap brands. There is no limit to the amount of bonus points you can earn spending at Gap brands and no limit to the amount of points you can earn with the card in general.
5x Gap Brands
The Banana Republic Luxe Card earns 5 rewards points per $1 spent at Gap brand store. Eligible purchases count as purchases made in-store (U.S. & Canada Only), online, via phone, or mail at:
- Gap Maternity
- Gap Outlet
- Gap Factory Store
- Banana Republic
- Banana Republic Factory Store
- Old Navy
- Old Navy Outlet
Earning 5 points per $1 will be equal to earning a 5% return on your purchases. Since the Luxe card comes with a 20% point bonus every quarter, you will actually be earning a 6% return on your purchases. So if you were to earn 1,000 points during a quarter, you would be given a bonus 200 points. It's not a super "big" bonus, but it's still extra points that can help with purchases throughout the year.
All non-Gap purchases made on the Banana Republic Luxe Card will earn 1 rewards point per $1 spent. This is a low return of 1% which is pretty bad. If you include the quarterly 20% bonus, you'll be looking at an earning of 1.2x points or a 1.2% return. This can still easily be beat by a 2% cash back card like the PayPal Cashback Mastercard or the Citi Double Cash. Generally, I don't recommend putting non-category spend through any of Gap's credit cards.
Perks and Benefits
The Banana Republic Luxe Card comes with all the benefits of the Banana Republic Credit Card along with a few additional ones.
Annually, on your day of birth, you will receive a birthday gift from Banana Republic in the form of a coupon that can save you some extra money on your next purchase. You will only receive this gift if you have made at least one purchase at Banana Republic within the past 12 months. Your account must also be in good standing.
20% Bonus Points
As a Banana Republic Luxe member, you will receive a bonus of 20% of points earned during the calendar quarter. This is equal to an additional 1% in earnings when spending at Gap brand stores. So if you were to earn 1,000 points between January and March (one quarter), an additional 200 bonus points would be deposited into your account.
The 20% bonus perk is also offered on the Gap Silver credit cards and Navyist Credit Cards which are the enhanced versions of the Gap and Old Navy credit cards. Athleta does not have an enhanced version so be aware of that if you planned on going for the Athleta Visa Card or Athleta Store Card.
When you use the promotional code 'LUXE', you will receive free 3-5 day shipping on purchases made online with Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, Gap Factory, and Banana Republic Factory. This is good for anywhere in the U.S. which includes Puerto Rico. This only applies to the 3-5 day shipping, so choosing other options may generate additional charges.
You'll typically get free shipping when you purchase more than $50 worth of stuff from Gap brand stores, so this is a great benefit that will save money for those who want to grab up a few items that add up to less than $50.
Free Basic Alterations
You will receive free basic alterations at Banana Republic as a Luxe member. This will only be for merchandise purchased in-store at Banana Republic or online at BananaRepublic.com. You will not be able to return or exchange merchandise that has been altered, so do take note of that.
You will also have access to the following benefits as a Banana Republic Luxe Card member:
- Special Offers & Early Access To Sales
- Bonus Points Shopping Days
- No Receipt Required For Returns
- Choose Your Own Sale Day
- Exclusive Toll-Free Luxe Hotline
Sign Up Bonus
You cannot directly apply for the Banana Republic Luxe Card. You will need to apply for the Banana Republic Credit Card and earn Luxe status by earning 5,000 points running spend through the card.
You can earn an easy 1,000 reward points redeemable for a $10 reward when you "Connect" with Gap by filling out the form located at the bottom of any of their Gap credit card details pages. You'll earn 500 points when you enter your email address and another 500 points when you opt to "Go Paperless" when it comes to paperless billing. You will need to be a cardholder in order to take advantage of these bonus points.
Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The Banana Republic Luxe Card does not have an annual fee. You will always earn a positive return when you use this card to make purchases at Gap brand stores as well as when you use the card to make purchases anywhere that VISA is accepted.
Authorized User Fee
There is no fee to add additional users to the Banana Republic Luxe Card. If you have family/friends that shop at Banana Republic and other Gap brands, I recommend adding them to earn points faster and to help you maintain Luxe status.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The Banana Republic Luxe Card has a 3% foreign transaction fee. That means you will be penalized 3% every time you use this card outside of the United States. Consider that the card is only good for U.S. and Canada purchases, I would steer clear of using this card internationally.
Banana Republic Luxe Membership
You will need to re-qualify for Banana Republic Luxe status every calendar year. This is done by earning 5,000 points with your Banana Republic Luxe Credit Card between January 1 and December 31. The easiest way to do such is by spending $1,000 at the Gap brand stores that qualify for the 5x bonus points multiplier.
Failure to reach 5,000 points in a calendar year will knock you back down to the basic Banana Republic Credit Card and you will not longer have access to the benefits that comes with being a Banana Republic Luxe member.
You can use this rewards calculator to calculate how many points, miles, or cash back you can earn based on your spend per category. This calculator will also give you the dollar value of the card based on rewards earned and how much each benefit is worth to you minus the fees. You can click the Compare A Card button to compare this card against another card in the same calculator.
All category spend entered in the primary card's column will carry over to all credit card pages on the site so you don't have to re-enter the same information over again.
