Gap Store Card
Review the benefits of the Gap Store Card, calculate how many Gap Rewards Points you can earn based on spend, and compare results to top cards.
The Gap Store Card is a superb option if you want to earn a 5% return shopping at Gap, Gap Factory, and other Gap brand stores. Along with a great return, you'll also earn discounts shopping at Gap and Gap Factory, access to exclusive sales, an annual birthday gift, and several other benefits. Since the card has no network associated with it, you will not be able to use it outside of shopping at Gap brand stores like you can with the Gap Visa Credit Card. Fortunately that does not matter too much as the Visa only gives you a 1% return on non-Gap purchases so you're not missing out on anything by picking up the store card.
The Gap Store Card features one bonus category which is spending at Gap brand stores. There's no limit to the amount of bonus points you can earn spending on the card.
5x Gap Brands
When you use the Gap Store Card to pay for purchases at Gap brand stores, you will earn 5 rewards points per $1 spent. Gap brand purchases are considered to be purchases made in-store (U.S. & Canada only), online, via phone, or mail at:
- Gap Maternity
- Gap Outlet
- Gap Factory Store
- Banana Republic
- Banana Republic Factory Store
- Old Navy
- Old Navy Outlet
Spending in this category will give you a return of 5% which is the same return that all Gap credit cards offer. When it comes to choose between a Gap brand credit card, you will want to choose the brand that you spend the most money with or the brand that has a credit card that will benefit you the most. Several Gap credit cards offer discount at specific brands or offer higher tier card member status for earning a lot of points during the calendar year so you'll want to take those things into consideration. All in all, this is a great return for Gap brands and a great card for those who enjoy making purchases at Gap or Gap Factory stores.
The Gap Store Card does not have a network attached to it (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), so you will not be able to use this card for non-Gap brand purchases. If you want to earn Gap Rewards Points on non-Gap purchases you'll need the Gap Visa Credit Card, but I still wouldn't recommend using that card due to the low 1% return it offers on non-Gap purchases. You'll be better off picking up a 2% cash back card such as the Citi Double Cash or PayPal CashBack Mastercard.
Perks and Benefits
If you enjoy shopping at Gap and Gap Factory stores, you'll find that the Gap Store Card offers a bunch of very useful benefits that can save you money during the year.
10% Off Gap Purchases
You will receive a 10% discount when you use your Gap Store Card in-store at Gap and Gap Factory stores in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico). This discount can be combined with up to one additional offer or combined with up to three rewards in a single transaction. In order to receive the discount, you'll need to pay for the entire transaction with your Gap Store Card. You will also need to enter code PLUS10 at checkout.
This is a promotional benefit that is only valid on purchases up until 4/30/2020.
You will receive a birthday gift annually during your birthday month. This gift will usually be a discount coupon that can save you some money the next time you make a purchase with Gap. You'll only receive your birthday gift if you have made at least one purchase at Gap or Gap Outlet with your Gap Store Card within the last 12 months. Your account must also be in good standing as well.
Spend To Silver Status
If you earn 5,000 points on your Gap Store Card during the calendar year, you will earn Gap Silver Status. This is an upgraded cardmember tier which grants additional benefits such as quarterly bonus points, free online shipping, free basic alterations at Banana Republic and more. You'll also be sent a sleek Silver Gap Store Card to replace your plan one (card number will remain the same). Since you can only make purchases at Gap brand stores with this card, you'll need to spend $1,000 in order to earn 5,000 points.
As a Gap credit card member, you will have access to several other benefits which includes:
- Access to special events with exclusive discounts
- Bonus point shopping days
- No receipt necessary for returns
Sign Up Bonus
The standard sign up bonus for the Gap Store Card is 20% off your first Gap or Gap Factory purchase. You'll also receive free shipping on this purchase to a U.S. address (Puerto Rico included). This is the same benefit offered across all Gap credit cards.
If you open your Gap Store Card online, you'll be given a 20% discount code that will need to be used within 30 days of account opening. If you apply and get approved in store, your discount will be applied to your purchase.
Credit Card Fees
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The Gap Store Card does not have an annual fee which means you'll always earn a 5% return when using the card at Gap, Gap Factory, and other Gap brands. Be sure to pay off your statement in full every month otherwise your rewards will be eaten alive by interest.
Authorized User Fee
The Gap Store Card has a $0 authorized user fee. If you have family or friends that shop at Gap brand store, adding them to your card will help you build your points faster and push you towards Gap Silver Status.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The Gap Store Card cannot be used outside of Gap brand stores so the foreign transaction fee will not apply.
