Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred to American Airlines AAdvantage at a 3:1 ratio. This means that every 3,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you transfer will give you 1,000 AAdvantage miles.
On top of that, Marriott throws in a 15,000-point bonus for every 60,000-block of Marriott Bonvoy points you transfer in a single transaction. For American Airlines AAdvantage, this comes out to a bonus 5,000 AAdvantage miles.
Since American Airlines is not a direct transfer partner of any major U.S. credit card rewards program, Marriott Bonvoy is the best option for earning AAdvantage miles outside using AA's own co-branded credit cards.
