Iberia is a direct transfer partner of several programs including two major U.S. credit card rewards programs: American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards.

You can also convert Iberia Avios into British Airways Avios and British Airways Avios into Qatar Avios and vice-versa — basically meaning you can move Avios freely between all three of these programs. This opens up the ability to transfer rewards from the remaining U.S. credit card rewards programs: Capital One Venture Rewards & Spark Rewards and Citi ThankYou Rewards.

AMEX points to Iberia

American Express Membership Rewards points can be transferred directly to Iberia Plus at a 1:1 ratio. This means that every 1,000 AMEX points you transfer will give you 1,000 Avios.

American Express offers a large handful of personal and business cards that can earn you the equivalent of up to 5X Avios on your purchases. Their premium cards also offer large intro bonuses that can net you as much as 100,000 Avios or more!

Chase points to Iberia

Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred directly to Iberia Plus at a 1:1 ratio meaning that every 1,000 points you transfer will give you 1,000 Avios.

Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1.25 to 1.5 cents per point when redeemed for travel via Chase Travel℠. This gives you an alternative way to get high value out of your points in the case that you can't find good award space with Iberia. This also allows you to redeem your points for car rentals and hotels for high value as well.

British Airways Avios to Iberia

Avios can be moved at a 1:1 ratio between British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus. This means you can use British Airways and their partners to earn Iberia Avios.

British Airways offers one co-branded credit card that's similar to Iberia's, but it can be useful for earning a large sum of Avios via the intro bonus.

Qatar Avios to Iberia

Qatar Avios can be converted into British Airways Avios which can then be converted into Iberia Avios. This is all at a 1:1 ratio meaning 1,000 Qatar Avios can be converted into 1,000 Iberia Avios after going through British Airways.

Qatar offers two credit cards which can be useful for building up Avios spending with Qatar. They also offers first year complimentary Qatar Privilege Club status which also grants oneworld status with airlines that fall under the alliance.

Capital One miles to Iberia

Capital One miles can be converted into British Airways Avios and then be converted into Iberia Avios. This is at a 1:1 ratio meaning that 1,000 Capital One miles will give you 1,000 Iberia Avios after the double transfer through British Airways.

Capital One credit cards earns rewards at a flat-rate for most purchases which means you can focus all of your spending on one credit card versus trying to maximize across multiple cards like you have to do with other programs.

Citi points to Iberia

Citi ThankYou points can be converted into Iberia Avios if you have the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card or Citi Prestige Card. This can be done by converting Citi points to Qatar Avios to British Airways Avios and finally to Iberia Avios. It requires a significant amount of transfers, but it can be done.

Citi is a great program just because of the Citi Strata Premier Card itself. It earns an unlimited 3X points across everyday categories and travel which makes it one of the best credit cards for daily spend. You can pair it with the Citi Double Cash to create a powerful 2-card combination.

Avios point transfers to other airlines

Iberia Avios can be converted into British Airways Avios at a 1:1 rate meaning 1,000 Iberia Avios will give you 1,000 British Airways Avios. From there British Airways Avios can be converted into Avios with all Avios-earning airlines which includes Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar, Finnair, and Vueling.
