AMEX to JetBlue transfer ratio
American Express Membership Rewards points can be transferred to JetBlue TrueBlue at a 5:4 ratio. This means every 1,000 AMEX points you transfer to JetBlue will give you 800 JetBlue points.
Transfers to JetBlue can be done in 250-point increments and you can transfer as little as 250 points and as many as 999,750 points in a single transaction. Transfers can take up to 48 hours, but you'll typically see the transfer reflected in your balance the same day.
Here's how AMEX Membership Rewards compares to JetBlue's other major credit card transfer partners:
Program | Ratio |
---|---|
American Express Membership Rewards | 1,000 AMEX points = 800 JetBlue points |
Chase Ultimate Rewards | 1,000 Chase points = 1,000 JetBlue points |
Citi ThankYou Rewards | 1,000 Citi ThankYou points = 1,000 JetBlue points |
While AMEX doesn't offer the best transfer ratio out of the three, do note that it is possible to earn more points per $1 spent on average with a few of AMEX's premium credit cards. So this is kind of the trade-off for the lower ratio.

Transfer fee: Excise Tax Offset Fee

American Express gives you the choice to pay for this fee with an eligible Membership Rewards credit card connected to the account or with Membership Rewards points. When paying in points, they will be worth 0.5 cents which is a terrible redemption value considering that you can easily get 1 cent for airfare or even higher transferring them to partners.
