The American Express Everyday® Preferred Credit Card is one of the best credit cards for building Membership Rewards Points. It earns 3X on U.S. supermarket purchases, 2X on U.S. gas station purchases, and 1X on all other purchases, but you can bump up the earnings across all spend thanks to the 50% point bonus after making 30 transactions in a billing statement. Overall, it's a great card to have and a great alternative to the American Express® Gold Card which is another top card for U.S. supermarket purchases.

Rewards Rate Details

The AMEX Everyday Preferred Credit Card features two categories that earn bonus points. Those categories are U.S. supermarket and U.S. gas station. The U.S. supermarket category earns bonus points on up to $6,000 in purchases per year. Once that cap is hit, you'll earn at the non-category rate for the remainder of the calendar year. The U.S. gas station category does not have a cap on the it's rate. There is no limit to the amount of Membership Rewards Points you can earn with the AMEX Everyday Preferred Credit Card overall.

    • Yearly cap of $6,000; 1x point for remainder of year after cap reached.
    • Can earn 4.5x with the 50% point bonus; 1.5x after cap.
  • 2x U.S. Gas Station
    • No cap on this category.
    • Can earn 3x with the 50% point bonus.
  • 1x Non-Category
    • Can earn 1.5x with the 50% point bonus.
