Out of the three cards that earn FlexPoints, the U.S. Bank FlexPerks Gold Card is the best out of the bunch. It features several bonus categories along with perks and bonuses aimed towards travel.
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The U.S. Bank FlexPerks Gold Card features three bonus categories. They are restaurants, airlines, and gas stations. Spending within these three categories will earn bonus FlexPoints. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn with this card.
- 3x Restaurants
- 2x Airline
- Must be booked direct; 3rd parties will not qualify (e.g. Expedia, Orbitz).
- 2x Gas Station
- 1x Non-Category

Sign Up Bonus
The standard sign up bonus for the FlexPerks Gold Card was 30,000 FlexPoints after spending $2,000 within the first four months of account opening. This was equal to as much as $450 when FlexPoints were worth 1.5 cents each, but is now worth $300 at a rate of 1 cent per FlexPoint.
The FlexPerks Gold Card has an annual fee of $85. With points being only worth 1 cents each, this fee is a little hard to swallow. There are better cards for travel, restaurant, and gas purchases.
Authorized User Fee
The FlexPerks Gold Card has a $0 authorized user fee. I recommend adding friends and family as users if they spend in any of the three categories featured on the card.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The U.S. Bank FlexPerks Gold Card does not have a foreign transaction fee so you can earn rewards worldwide without devaluing your FlexPoints.
You can use the rewards calculator to calculate how many points, miles, or cash back you can earn based on your spend per category. This calculator will also give you the dollar value of the card based on the value of the rewards earned and how much each benefit is worth to you, minus the annual fees. You can click the Compare A Card button to compare this card side by side any other card featured on the site within the same calculator.
Note! All category spend entered in the primary card's column (first column when comparing cards) will carry over to all credit card calculators on the site. This means you will not have to re-enter the same information again and again when browsing during the session.
