Capital One offers a total of six personal credit cards that you can use to earn rewards on everyday spend. These cards are split up into three families of cards: Quicksilver, Savor, and Venture.

The Quicksilver Rewards credit cards offer a flat 1.5% cash back on all purchases and pairs well with the Savor credit cards.

The Savor Rewards credit cards earns bonus cash back spending on dining, entertainment, popular streaming services and at grocery stores. These cards only earn 1% cash back on all other purchases which is why they pair well with the 1.5% earnings of the Quicksilver cards.

The Venture Rewards credit cards earn Venture Miles at a flat rate across all purchases. Miles earned with these cards can be redeemed for 1 cent each towards travel purchases either through the Capital One travel website or towards travel purchases made to the card. These miles can also be transferred to Capital One's airline and hotel partners.

All-in-all, Capital One offers a great line-up of credit cards. Finding which card is best for you will depend on the type of rewards you're looking for and the kind of spend you plan on running through their cards.

Capital One Category Definitions

The Savor credit cards are the only Capital One credit cards that feature bonus categories. Listed below are Capital One's definitions when it comes to earning bonus cash back.

Dining

Capital One considers dining purchases to be restaurants, fast food, fine dining, and anything else that usually codes as restaurants.

Entertainment

Capital One considers entertainment purchases to be movie theatres, video rentals (non-digital), tourist attractions, amusement parks, aquariums, zoos, billiard/pool establishments, bowling alleys, and ticket events (i.e. bands, commercial sports, live performances).

Grocery

Capital One considers grocery to be merchants that primarily focus on the selling of groceries. This includes merchants such as Meijer, Kroger, Giant Eagle, Publix, and Vons.

Capital One does not count grocery purchases made at gas stations, convenience stores, warehouse clubs, discount stores, and super stores. This means places like Walmart and Target will not be recognized as grocery spend.

Popular Streaming Services

Capital One consider popular streaming services to be eligible music and video streaming services. This includes Netflix® , Hulu® and Disney+.

Some services, such as Prime Video, AT&T TV and Verizon FIOS On Demand, are excluded, as well as audiobook subscription services and fitness programming.

Capital One Cash Back Credit Cards

There are two families of personal Capital One cash back cards. One family is called Quicksilver and the other is called Savor. The Quicksilver credit cards earns cash back at a flat rate while the Savor Cards features the bonus categories of dining, entertainment, popular streaming services, and grocery.

Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card earns 1.5% cash back on all purchases. The difference between this card and the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card is that this card has a $39 annual fee attached to it. The QuicksilverOne is considered to be a "starter" card for those new to credit or repairing their credit. Once you obtain this card and have had it for awhile, it is usually possible to upgrade ('product change') to the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card so that you can avoid the annual fee.

In terms of dining, entertainment, and popular streaming services, this card is the better choice over the no-annual fee Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card if you spend more than $800 a month combined between these categories.

The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card is $0 the first year, with the $95 annual fee kicking in the second year. So you'll want to make sure you're spending enough to make that fee worth it once it does kick in. You can always downgrade ('product change') to the no fee Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card after the first year if you don't feel like it's worth keeping.

This is the better choice for anyone that spends less than $800 per month across the categories of dining, entertainment, popular streaming services. Capital One Miles Credit Cards

When it comes to personal credit cards that earns Capital One Miles, the Venture Cards are your only option. Both cards under the Venture Rewards program offers Venture Miles at a flat rate per $1 spent. The only difference between the two cards is the earning rates and the annual fees.

Capital One Venture Miles are worth 1 cents each for most redemptions. They can be used to wipe away travel purchases made to the card, applied towards travel through the Capital One Travel Portal, and be used for gift cards. Capital One Miles can also be transferred to 15 airline partners at either a 4:3 or 2:1 ratio depending on the airline.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card earns 2 Venture Miles per $1 spent on all purchases. Since Venture Miles are worth an easy 1 cents each, you're basically looking at a 2% return on all other purchases which is nothing a 2% cash back credit card can't do.

In terms of card benefits, the Venture Card only has one primary benefit which is up to a $100 credit towards a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application. This is a common perk offered on many cards, especially luxury cards. Outside of this benefit, there's no other perks that is specific to the Venture Card.

Based on spend alone, the Venture Card is the better choice over the no fee VentureOne Card if you're spending more than $1,100 per month on the card. This is once the annual fee kicks in the second year of having the Venture Card since the $95 annual fee is waived the first year.

Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card earns 1.25 Venture Miles on all purchases. At the rate of 1 cent each, you're looking at a 1.25% return on all other purchases which is pretty low considering there's many no-fee 1.5% and higher cards to chose from.

The Venture Card will be the better option over the VentureOne if you're planning on spending more than $1,100 per month. This is after the fee kicks in the second year since the Venture Card will always be the better card the first year due to having the annual fee waived.
