The AMEX Business Platinum Card earns Membership Rewards points at the following rates:

• 5 points per $1 spent on flights and prepaid hotels on AmexTravel.com.
• 1.5 points per $1 spent on each eligible purchase at US construction material, hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers, and software & cloud system providers, and shipping providers, as well as on purchases of $5,000 or more, on up to $2 million per Card Account per calendar year. Purchases eligible for multiple additional point bonuses will only receive the highest eligible bonus.
• 1 point per $1 spent for each dollar you spend on all other eligible purchases.

Here are the main benefits of the AMEX Business Platinum Card:

Annual Fee

The AMEX Business Platinum Card has an annual fee of $695. (See Rates & Fees)

This is a hefty price, but the card offers over $1,400 in annual credits — being able to use just half of these credits every year will pay for the card. On top of that, you have lounge access, complimentary status with hotels and car rental agencies, superb insurance coverage, and a point rebate that bumps the value of Membership Rewards points to 1.53 cents each. In summary, the card is very much worth the price if you travel even a few times per year.

Authorized User Fee

The fee to add authorized users to the AMEX Business Platinum is $350 per card.

Like the annual fee, this is a high cost BUT additional Business Platinum Cardholders receive fantastic benefits. This includes access to all lounges in the Global Lounge Collection program, complimentary elite status with Marriott, Hilton, and several rental car partners, up to $120 credit for a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee, and much more.

So while this may be a little costly, it is well worth it if the users you add frequently travel.

If your employees or additional cardholders don't plan on traveling, you can add additional Employee Business Expense Cards instead which has no annual fee. These cards are strictly for earning Membership Rewards points and do not feature the array of benefits that comes with additional Business Platinum cards.

Foreign Transaction Fee

The AMEX Business Platinum Card has a 0% foreign transaction fee. If your business deals with international purchases or travel, you will not be penalized when making purchases that are not in U.S. Dollars.
